Doesn't it hurt to do that with your voice? Is there a proper way to make that sound without damaging your vocal cords?

8. A number of years ago, PBS had a show about Richard Feynman

and his quest for Tannu Tuva. That's where I first heard throat singers apply their craft.

If I'm not thinking to hard, I can conjure up overtones with my voice, and they sound so cool. I'd love to learn this technique myself, since the taboos agains women throat singers are diminishing.
