My ADD meds doubled in price almost.
I know I spend a lot less on meds than a lot of other people out there, but it really sucks when you go in to pick up your prescription (which I've been without for a week, because my doctor went away and didn't leave me one) and you find out it pretty much doubled, even with insurance. Then, to make it better, you don't have the money on you because you're expecting it to cost you the same amount it has for the last year.

So I had to drive back home (like 20 minutes away), waste some gas, get more cash and drive back. The pharmacist also insisted that it was always that amount. I'm sorry, but I think I know how much I've been paying every month. Gah!

1. That sucks...sorry to hear that
Is it possible your insurance is covering less of the costs? Is there a generic equivalent or are you already on a generic?

2. There's no generic.
I don't want to switch to something I can get in generic, because Adderall XR really works for me. I'd rather stick with what I know then play around with meds again.

I haven't gotten anything from my insurance company about covering less of it. I should call them and see what's going on though.

4. I would...if not, shop around or find someone with a Costco
card if there is one in your area - unless of course, you have one...Costco's pharmacy prices tend to be lower. I know it doesn't help much when the cost has doubled and certainly doesn't help now, but perhaps by the time you need to fill the next script you can get a better deal

5. Never thought about Costco.
Conveniently, my favorite Aunt does has a Costco card and she lives halfway between me and the Costco (which is right by the pharmacy I go to anyway). I'll try that next time.

10. Read my post down below about Costco
My doctor sometimes gives me the little plastic card which entitles me to a free 30-day supply of Adderall XR. But when I pay -- because I don't have insurance -- I buy generic from Costco.

No, it is not as effective, but Adderall XR is very expensive if you're paying out of pocket.

But I've been buying from Costco for several months and their prices have gotten lower each time, believe it or not. At first, I thought it was a mistake, but they said they buy in such bulk that they're able to provide good prices.

And Costco is very blue so I enjoy buying from them.

3. My BP and heart meds skyrocketed recently, too...
I suppose my insurance must have changed. Luckily, I was able to go to the VA and get them to fill them.

8. my meds have also increased
Edited on Fri Apr-21-06 12:29 AM by kagehime
not only have they gone from 20 to 35 a month, when i went to fill them in february, i found that my insurance failed to inform me that i had to switch to mail-order to get my meds

do not take meds away from someone with depression/anxiety/panic disorder

it equals very very very bad

the worst part is that i don't have a locking mail box and i work late. i don't like the thought of my meds just hanging out in my mail box all day

edit: me speel good

9. What meds are you taking?
I don't have insurance and I take Adderall, but I go to Costco, which charges me about one-third of the price that Walgreen charges for the same 30 mg generic tablets.

13. Very true.
Actually, no churches are getting any money from me currently. I think my mom's church may be getting money with my name on it though. I know that two years ago she was still handing in my envelope when she went to church, even though I hadn't really gone since my confirmation six years earlier. I really also hated the fact that our church would mail us envelopes with our names pre-printed and a spot to write in the amount. I think collection basket stuff should be anonymous.

15. It should be anonymous, according to the Bible.
But a lot of people want a record for their income tax.

16. We have PBS, we get cheap meds! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D And I mean
if you times their price by five, it would still be cheaper than yours! (Actually, the range is about 3-16 times less, but 5 is a good median)

Now the Government has taken the first step in removing the PBS, soon we will have meds that cost what yours do.:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:
