Well, I'm 3-1/2 days into a five-day fast. I've heard people say that
when you get to the fourth day or so you feel like you can see through walls. This should be interesting.

9. I think maybe that's just a natural reaction.
You have put your body into a rountine. Your body hasn't had any food for a few days so it doesn't need any.
Maybe that's a theory.

11. No, I think that's how it usually works. I read a book about

hunger (actually titled "Hunger," come to think of it), and the author discussed fasting at some length. She said this usually happens.

Edited for missing closing parenthesis.

8. Stay away from nail guns.
Kidding, kidding.

I have a friend that does a one-day-a-month fast in honor of a deceased relative. Five days is some serious fasting.

Be careful when you "break" it. I got pretty sick going straight to regular food (I was being nagged)

Bacon cheeseburger would be a BIG mistake.

Edit: How long did you fast? Any liquid nourishment?

18. Are you taking any nutrition (juice or whatever), or just water?
I can't do water-only fasts because I tend to faint when my blood sugar gets low. If I can get past the stage of randomly about to faint and ketosis kicks in, I'll be okay after that--but getting past that point is hard. Aside from a couple times when I was avoiding food so I wouldn't throw up and the time I was going through radiation and my mouth felt like one giant burn, I haven't managed to do it.

19. Water. Vitamin pill each day. 8 ounces Gatorade daily for electrolytes.
But I do get some bulk from my prescription medicines, which I would rather not stop taking.

20. Interesting, I'm finishing day 5 of a fast, myself
I was feeling really blah and a friend told me of the "master cleanse" detox (not a diet, per se).
The book is on line to read, BTW.

http://www.frenzy.com/~sam/mc/TheMasterCleanse.pdf#search='master%20cleanse'

So, I'm trying for the 10 days. I drink the "lemonade" during the day and mint tea in the evening. I'm doing well and feel better than I did last week. The part I don't particularly care for is the quart of salt water that I drink every morning...but I've tossed 10 pounds that I hope to keep off.
I notice that I do feel more alert and I could smell the leaves blooming on the maple trees this morning-weird, but nice!
When the 10 days are over, I'm going to be vegetarian (basically) from then on.
Good luck and hang in there!:hi:

23. I've done the MC before
The Master Cleanse is great. I managed 13 days last year, but I think 10 is quite enough. That's how I stopped drinking soda at work, and I thought I'd never break that habit.

I know what you mean about the saltwater flush...but *whoa* does it work. Not to be too gross or anything, but since there is a smilie...

:hurts:

Good luck with your fast, Redstone!

What's the reason? I think a fast/cleanse is a good idea when done right.

29. Couple reasons:
1) Why not?

2) Indians are supposed to do this now and again. I haven't.

3) Test of strength, which will be needed for the coming shitstorm. I will need to be calm and centered, and am becoming more so with each day.

4) Think of all the bucks I'm saving.

24. I'm really interested to hear more, Redstone.
It's been a long time since I've fasted for that long. I've done 3 days, but it's challenging for me when I have to do the meal prep for my kids. If I could stay completely away from food it would be much easier, I'm sure...or, if I was completely ALONE for a while, but that's not too practical, either.

I'm really attracted to the idea of doing a complete de-tox fast, but I don't know if I could completely cut out my morning dose of caffeine. Yes, I am sadly addicted. I only have one big ole cup a day...but it's a really STRONG cup. :D Seriously, I would get major headaches and be a major bitch by 2pm...and I've never been that motivated to torture myself by stopping or reducing my caffeine intake.

Have you been getting any headaches?

In any case, I'm very impressed. Nice way to drop a few pounds, I'd imagine, too. I could definitely use that....

27. I did a ton of fasts back in the day.

Three day, five day, ten day... and one freakishly long one. After the third day or so your stomach begins shrinking and yes, you lose all sensation of hunger. Also, you are correct, your senses will become more acute. I noticed especially heightened color and scent awareness. I don't know about the "walking through walls" thing, but there is definitely an altered state of consciousness.

Good luck.

30. Can't tell so far.
This has actually been pretty easy, if disappointing; where are the insights? Where are the visions? Where are the blinding revelations?

I think I'll keep going for a while. See what happens.
