What music are you hearing this weekend?
Edited on Sat Apr-22-06 05:02 PM by mvd
I heard the full album of Let Love In by The Goo Goo Dolls - it's at the VH1 website. I loved Dizzy Up The Girl and also liked Gutterflower, so I had high hopes. I like Let Love In, but it's probably the worst album of the three. It sounds too calculated in the way that they want a radio hit. The songs soar pretty similarly. Best moments are "Stay With You," "Better Days," "Give A Little Bit," and "Can't Let It Go." It's good enough for someone who enjoys their music (like I do) to buy.

Also:

Pink - Try This (her edgiest and most creative CD - it still might be a hair above I'm Not Dead, which molds together her pop/rock and R&B styles very well.) I'd rank Pink's CDs this way: 1) Try This - A+, 2) I'm Not Dead - A+/A (still deciding which,) Missundazstood - A-, Can't Take Me Home - B.

Warren Zevon - The Wind

1. Nothing at the moment
But later on, I will be listening to George Harrison's "All Things Must Pass' and Boz Scaggs' Anthology.

I heard Warren Zevon's "The Wind" a couple of days ago... good recording.

15. Are you serious?
That's like my least favourite song on the album haha. Sounds like a bad Air rip-off. (Air is awesome though, for the record, so it's still a decent song.)

The Bravery kinda bore me though. Not sure why. Might just need to warm up to them more.

4. Young children in a recital, King Crimson improvs from 2000.
The school where I teach music had a recital this morning. Kids from 2nd through 8th grade playing piano, guitar, flute and violin. I think that's all that needs to be said.

There and back, I listened to a collection of improvisations from King Crimson's 2000 tour. A guy I know acquired a multitude of audience recordings from the tour, and put together a four disc compilation of the improvs. Great stuff.

Since then, just the computer fans and my own voice, as I'm working on a PowerPoint presentation for my graduate class.

20. My "Girls in the Garage" records
They're compilations of ridiculous, obsucre, girl groups from the 60's. I haven't listened to them in ages but found them when I was trying to figure out what to put on my mix cd.
