Was it me, or did "Alien vs. Predator" suck?
Edited on Sat Apr-22-06 08:27 PM by NewJeffCT
I finally saw the movie after getting the DVD a while back.

some underground pyramid in Anartica where predators hunt aliens dating back thousands of years?

I think I had the comic years back and wasn't the comic some post-apocalyptic earth that becomes a battleground for aliens & predators? I think the comic was better, if I recall.

1. If you suspend enough disbelief, it is good.
Otherwise it is complete crap yes.
What about that line "Ancient maps show Antarctica free of ice" ugh!

2. It seemed like a vehicle for some fancy disjointed CG to me...
Plot, anyone?

3. It had its moments...
but in all, it was an average, or sub average movie. I enjoyed the idea that predators were here in the past, breeding aliens for their young predators to fight, to earn their passage to manhood...and the fight between the Alien and Predators, where like two predators bought the farm, was pretty good...but plot wise, and the corny acting...bah, i was expecting a decent movie, Frank Black let me down!...:)

5. It is not just you ...

Too many minutes of my life I will never get back. The whole premise was absurd.

And yes, the comic was much better.

8. they all die
The attractive black woman (Sanaa Lathan?) was the one that walked out alive. However, she had to ally with the last predator to prevent the aliens from reaching the surface... if the aliens had escaped onto the surface of the world, the world would have been wiped out to prevent them from spreading further.

7. It could have been worse
but yeah, it pretty much stunk out the joint. Pity me, for I actually paid money to see it in a theatre. x(

9. It's a horrible, horrible film
I hate Paul W S Anderson sooo fucking much. The shithead's probably only read the novelization of Alien: Resurrection and Predator 2 and even then he can't write a story that stays true to canon, let alone a coherent one. Fuck Fox for letting this happen (and double fuck them for the PG-13 bullshit).

And fuck the arsehole executive who greenlit a fucking sequel.

11. Being a sometimes Blockbuster employee
I watched it for free. And I am still angry that I cannot get those minutes of my life back. But I did have high hopes for this movie. It was like peanut butter and chocolate: Aliens? Predator? YUM! And yes the comics were way cooler.

12. It sucked the Pope's nuts. Worse still....
... the real tragedy was that John Carpenter hadjust begun shooting "The Thing II" when AvsP came out, and the opening premise was coincidentally so similar (Thing II takes place in an ancient alien fortress under the Antarctic Ice Cap) that the studio shut-down production.

So there's no Thing II, thanks entirely to Alien vs. Predator.
