The subject for this month's contest is

MAKING CONNECTIONS (JUXTAPOSITION) - An image that combines two very different things in a way that creates a connection between them.

7. I'm still going with Grace of God -

most of them don't fit the theme, IMO, so are automatically out. The cash machine image, as I said in the other thread, is a beautiful one - a real saver - but speaking personally, I need it cropped. If it were cropped, I would have a very difficult time between it and Grace. Both nail the theme wonderfully, they're well composed (except the cropping issue), and they have a good artistic eye to them.

32. Gotta agree with you on the theme.

It was difficult for me to decide between the same two you cited. I went with the cash machine one.

All were great photographs, though. It's just that those two spoke to the theme.

33. How would you want it cropped?

Personally, I like the way the man doesn't fill much of the frame - the little busy-ness on the right and the emptyness on the left sets the man apart as something discarded and un-noticed on the street (the darkness to the left gives a sense of loneliness). To me, a tighter crop would lose a lot of context, and it would make it more of a one-dimensional 'joke' photo (homeless guy/ATM). IMO, of course...

Although I truly cannot believe that the eagle and the shredded flag photo didn't make the finals. :shrug: I guess there's no accounting for taste. In the Lounge, at any rate! :P
