18. "Night Court" was the only one on the list I ever watched.

I did love Night Court. It was up there with Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman and the inimitable Fernwood 2-Nite (Martin Mull and Fred Willard). IMHO, three comedy programs that never Jumped-the-Shark. Bring 'em back, ye bastards! Smart comedy for Democrats. No Repuke I have ever known GOT those great comedy shows. Go figure (or pound sand).

I typed in "80s sitcoms."

I found a Web Site that had a list of 80s sitcoms.

I typed in the first ten I saw.

It has nothing to do with the fact that I have a penis (see above).

I'd also like to say that I DO have one, and I am neither shamed nor apologetic over HAVING one. I just have one. Deal with it.

I found ten sitcoms, I picked ten sitcoms.

There is absolutely nothing redeeming about that show. Brutal, brutal television.

I'm surprised to see Perfect Strangers garnering so many votes. I mean, sure the foreign guy routine was trite and exhausting, but they occasionally did some top notch physical comedy.

Because every episode was centered on a misunderstanding which got old five minutes into the first episode. It was tough to choose, though.

I thought Night Court was hilarious and very clever, very like Barney Miller. In fact I'm not convinced that they didn't have the same theme music. And until Designing Women jumped the shark when Jean Smart and Delta Burke left, it was very good -- and very liberal.

Alf, Webster, Diff'rent Strokes, Growing Pains, ugh.

Just with Diff'rent Strokes, the black child living with white parents thing had already been sufficiently played out.

I remember briefly thinking that at some point, TV would be dominated by kids like Gary Coleman and Emmanuel Lewis, and their shows would run forever since the kids will never appear to grow up.

But of course we had little kids in the 80s that wanted to watch them. The only one on the list that I refused to watch was Webster. That show really creeped me out. The little boy (who was really a teenager playing a 5 year old) with his white bread family that liked to carry him everywhere. Yuck! And didn't he call his adoptive mother Ma'am?

56. Who's the Boss

A step down for Tony Danza from Taxi (IMO). I had good memories of watching ALF as a kid (I was in 1st and 2nd grade during ALF's heyday, and what got me through Mondays was knowing ALF would be on that night). I've enjoyed a few of the other shows in reruns (Perfect Strangers, Night Court). Perfect Strangers, for better or worse, gave us Family Matters (Harriette Winslow played the elevator operator on Perfect Strangers).
