The Springsteen album of Seeger songs is great!!

Springsteen is one of our greatest singers ever!!!

The songs range from "John Henry" to "Froggy Went a-Courting."

I especially like "John Henry," "Mary Don't You Weep," and "Pay Me My Money Down."

The album is also a testament to Pete Seeger's great songwriting.

except "awesome," "tremendous," "wonderful" -- or whatever other superlative you would care to mention. This is easily the most original idea for an album I've come across in a long time. The material Springsteen chose is fascinating -- everything from the old Scottish tune "Froggie Went A-Courtin'" to the rousing "O Mary Don't You Weep," one of several spirituals on this CD that became popular with civil rights activists. The instruments used include guitars, bangos, pianos, organs, horns, and even the accordion. In the little booklet that comes with it, Springsteen writes that he wanted to capture the feel of a bunch of musicians gathering on someone's front porch and just jamming. He certainly succeeded. Once again, he reminds me of why he's called "The Boss," and why the only time I ever head for a music store anymore is when he has a new CD out. :headbang:
