What ornaments are on YOUR tree??
KadeCarrion and I put up our tree today, and we put up not only some old ornaments of mine, but new ones my parents bought us.

Old and new:

Snoopy and Woodstock carrying a tree
Bart on Homer's lap, who's playing Santa
Lisa playing her saxophone
Little red fire engine
4 different kinds of red chile ornaments
Flying V guitar (my first electric is a V)
X-Wing, Tie Fighter, and Imperial Walkers
Darth Vader
Death Star under construction from Episode VI (lights up and talks)
Enterprise from original Trek, and TNG
Klingon Bird of Prey
Picard
Riker
Yoda
A gold-colored crescent moon
A cigar
A Borg cube, also talks

Several more, but you get the rough theme, lol...

Let's hear about yours!

1. What, no yak ornaments?
:-)

My ornaments are pretty normal. Lots of glass balls in a rainbow of colors - most with various designs painted on them. There are some bells and big silver bows. But most of my good stuff is still back at my parents' house.

3. Lots of different kinds of owls
Edited on Mon Dec-08-03 01:06 AM by scarlet_owl
a few turtles, some papier-mache safari animals, a sleeping kitty in a teacup, for some reason a pumpkin headed ghost, glass fish, some snowmen, our "our first Christmas together", a glass pear and lemon, some miniature carosel horses and gingerbread man, my Hallmark Mark McGwire, and a big star on top. There are more, but those are the ones I can see from here.

4. That's really cool.
No Looney Tunes? No Bugs? But, you've got Homer, Bart, and Lisa.

My ornaments are traditional - angels, musical instruments, bears, cats, and a lot of handmade ornaments from my sister. But, although I really want to, I don't have a tree. I have Ricky, he's a little brat and would destroy it in no time at all.

This is Ricky. Can't you see the gleam in his eye? Can't you see the attitude?

9. I could stand some Looney Tunes!
I'd have to get Yosemite Sam, Foghorn Leghorn, and Daffy Duck.

Want me to tell Ricky to behave??? BEHAVE, RICKY!! Mom wants to put up her tree!

5. Handmade Ornaments
All of mine are plain old white styrofoam balls that have been decorated with sequins, beads, ribbon and satin or velvet.

Some of them were made by my Mom, my Aunts, my sister and myself. I even have one that was made by my sister's first husband around 30 years ago. Actually all of my ornaments are at least 20 years old.
I wrap the trunk of the tree with small very bright colored lights and the ends of the limbs have the small bubble lights.

Makes for a very personalized tree and it's beautiful too!

I have never done any of my own, other than the construction paper chains my sister and I made when we were little. :-)

that my lady loves. She is the daredevil bungee jumper and skydiver type. I, on the other hand, am the wuss.

17. We have about 10 of the White House ornaments
I can't bear to put them on the tree this year. I proudly displayed them during the Clinton administration.

What should I do? Put a black ribbon over them?

I used to love my White House ornaments.

*sniff*

20. Thanks! I hope you're right!
I know it sounds silly, but it really depresses me to think about my White House ornaments. Just like I couldn't bear to fly a flag this year for the 4th of July.

Dammit!

I'm sick of this!

21. Birds and birdhouses
lots of animal ornaments - the more realistic the better - lighthouses, various types of boats and watercraft, carousels. We don't so much have a theme tree as have decided preference for certain types of ornaments. I really like a lot of small, very realistic-looking, birds and birdhouses. The lighthouses are the ones that actually blink, and each one's timed differently, just like real lighthouses. I'm very fond of them. I have motors on my carousels so they rotate. I don't know why the carousels appeal to me, but they do.

Unfortunately, he's knocked off most of the other ornaments.
But we love him anyway :)

23. The first ornament that goes on our tree...

...is a blue glass pinecone, that's 82 years old. My Grandmother bought a set of four, the year my mother was born. There was a red, green, yellow and blue one. After Grandfather died, she went to live with my Aunt, and gave the remaining two, the blue one and the red one to my Mom. When Mom died my sister Helen got kept the red one, and gave me the blue one.

25. Tree? What tree?
I live by myself; my place is too much of a mess to have company; so I don't bother with a tree.

When I did have a tree, all of my ornaments were of the bovine variety.

26. My favorites are some wooden angels from Germany, very tiny, delicate
little things; we also have a blown-glass lovebird theme kind of recurring; when we find glass ornaments with lovebirds on we just have to buy one for the collection. Our very first one was found broken in the box this year; it was 22 years old *sniff* but the marriage lasts even if the ornaments don't, so that is one thing to be thankful for!!
I also have lots and lots of different kinds of snowflakes and icicle ornaments. I like a really old-fashioned look.
