Mother*&%%ing BellSouth!

I finally finished moving crosstown just this past Friday.

Notified BellSouth on Monday and got a new phone number. Told them I didn't want their long distance, or any other bells & whistles, just the basic service, and that I was opting out of the wire-maintenance fee ($6 a month and never had trouble in 20 years).

Wednesday, my ISP informed me they aren't getting any recognition on the new number and it looks like there's going to be trouble.

So I called BellSouth back up and they tell me this is because the number's not due to be turned on until Friday. Fine.

Friday morning, I called the number, from work and still heard beep-beep-beeeeep "the number you are calling ..."

Called BellSouth back up and found out they'd given me the wrong freaking exchange! Got the right number and it rang. Everything looks good, but it's too late to have my DSL hooked up for that day.

Friday afternoon, I move in, plug the phone in the bedroom outlet, hear the dial tone, everything sounds fine.

Sunday, I start hooking up the computer in the living room. Plug a phone cable in the back, thinking to use a dial-up number. NO DIAL TONE! Go back to the bedroom phone and it's there. Start to call out, and realize that after every number, I still hear dial tone. Later, someone called and I couldn't get it to pick up properly. So, I pull out an older phone and try the kitchen jack. Same problem with the dial tone, until I switch it over to old-fashioned rotary dialing. It works.

UGH! UGH!

I can't wait til 9am to call them. It's going to be fun.
