My cat coos when he's happy...anybody else's cat do this?
He purrs when he's happy. But when he gets REAL happy, his purrs come out like a pidgeon cooing.

He's sitting front of me while I write. He likes it when I pinch his ears between my thumb and forefinger and massage. And he'll start cooing.

Same with when I massage between his toes. Obviously he's very docile.

Does anybody elses cat coo like this?

2. Both my cats have the same markings as yours...
except Coltrane's are brown (the one that coo's).

Byrd is a long hair. Same markings...he has black sideburns as well. He looks like he's got an Elvis doo or a mullet.

3. Cats meow when they talk to humans
They have their own kitty language they use amongst themselves, or when they feel very close to and comfortable with their people. Your kitty has accepted you as another cat, albeit very large and with (no doubt) a strange accent. :) Cats bark, mew, coo, trill, click, and make all kinds of other noises most non-cat humans never hear, much less imagine.

4. I'm pretty sure he thinks I'm a litter mate...

since I got him at 8 weeks old...he has several habits:

He MUST sleep in my armpit (not easy for a 20lb cat). If accidently closed out of the room he meows until we wake up and let him in.

He MUST give me a bath everynight. He puts his paw on either side of my face (no claws...i had to train him on that part) and starts by cleaning my neck. He ends with a few quick licks to the lips and nustles his head down on my shoulder.

He gets very upset if he can hear me outside, but can't get out. I use to live in apartment and would hang out at a friends directly below my apt. If the windows were open, he'd meow like crazy until my GF would go nuts and bring him down.

He only talks under certain circumstances. The setting above...when I come home (he greets me at the door) he'll talk to me for about 10mins with a loud happy meow. When I take showers. He sits on the sink basin and will talk to me the whole time. Especially when I get out. I've trained him (when I'm towelling off) to speak when I say, "Speak.". I reward him with a rub to the head and he gets very excited for me to ask him to speak again. It only works when I'm getting out of the shower. He used to do it in the car when I would take him to band practice. Though he's not comfortable with the car anymore because I don't take him out like that anymore.

He also likes it when I hold him over my shoulder (like burping a baby). He'll lick the tops of my ears.

He also follows me around the house.

I grew up with cats (about 10 across my entire life). But he certainly has the most personality. He almost borders on obsession. He's got some Siamese markings and somebody told me that they're an emotional breed.

He's almost 7 now. And I dread the day that he passes. We've been through so much together.

5. He sounds pretty awesome
All our 7 cats are rescues. Imhotep is very much the s.o.'s cat, although he'll come bug me every once in a while.

Plato sometimes sleeps on my head. He weighs 18+ lbs. I had to train him with the claw thing too. He sometimes tries to wash me, but I'm a long-hair cat :) and he finds it disconcerting. He likes to wash his brother Socrates a lot.

Quark will start grooming you, then take a few love bites here and there. He's extremely pointy.
