Poll question: Your experience meeting DUers...
Edited on Mon Apr-24-06 07:06 PM by progmom
We met MadAsHellNewYorker this weekend...and if you can believe it, he's even sweeter (and CUTER!) in person than he is online!!

Other times I have met people in person (like Faith Not Greed) whose kind spirits blew me away.

What has your experience been meeting DUers?

1. I wasn't sure what to expect.
Edited on Mon Apr-24-06 06:38 PM by trof
Not sure if I was happily SURPRISED, but it was very pleasant.
A cookout at matcom's and a lunch with nsma and misunderestimater when they were passing through our area.

but I guess you'd need a West Coasters and an East Coasters. There are a lot of Canadian DUers that I would like to meet. So it you ever hold one either in Toronto or Vancouver - that would be really cool!

that's why you corrected me about The Shipping News....I got my provinces mixed up. And I even lived in Canada for a while and have relatives there.

Yeah, it's a pretty nice spot. I enjoy it here in the city, but I'm only here during school. I'm going home to a hole-in-the-ground rural town for the summer. <sarcasm> Should be awesome. </sarcasm> I've heard people say that the small towns are nice to visit, but living there is a whole other story.

is that I don't see the DUers I've met often enough. The problem with my complaint is that I only have myself to blame. Austin DUers kick serious ass...I just don't go out enough. :( I'm hoping to change that though after I get back from my vacation.

52. Where is LiberalTexan, speaking of meeting DUers?
She and I, and a few other DUers, met on the Mockingbird Bridge (over US-75 .. not I-75) on the day before the 2002 elections. Sirius was there too. When Bu$h showed up at SMU, we got closer than any protesters before or after. Several of our group had tickets to the Bu$h speech at SMU. They got in and interrupted Bu$h with yells from hell. It was on the evening news. It was great!

Mac

Also, sweet Sirius (RIP) was there .. on the bridge.

71. She has been bizzy with a new career and a new little girl!
She and I were very active in the Dean campaign, but she had to finish school, and then I got sick last summer.

However, I DID persuade she and Mr. LiberalTexan to make it to our Halloween party last year, so watch for messages about it in the Texas forum-- they might make it out again this year.

53. I'm so glad I've made it to the meetups I've gone to.
I feel blown away with all the kindred spirits in the room. Unfortunately in real life as is the case here I'm not much of a talker most of the time. But I do get in a point here and there. It feels so good to be around others who love discussing politics and current events and do so with such fervor and passion. It makes me smile inside and out.

63. You and I are just too damn lazy.
Apart from the great chasm which separates North and South - there's very little distance between us.

I, too, have yet to meet any other DUers.

69. I met several at FunDay, several at a John Conyers Town Hall meeting...
Had lunch with one twice, and PassingFair is my best friend. I have to say it's enjoyable and always something I look forward to. I cannot wait to meet more...

Besides adoring PassingFair, I met one DUer the week that the CubanLiberal/Paddy thing went down, and it did much to restore a shaken faith in the people
of DU.
