The job has been a poor match (always) but I liked the people I worked with. It's an opportunity right?

6. No. I'm really taking it as an opportunity.
the job was deadly boring. I was down to squaring up corners on files. Really. and my windows haven't had a good washing since we bought the house! the sewing room is falling down and trying to call to me. Wait, what was that? I think the sewing studio is holding some children's wear captive--must set it free...

9. thanx. We'll see how I feel 90 days from now
but right now, I really need the time off and to find something that doesn't make me crazy every day. Thanks for the hug, it's much appreciated.

2. Sure it is.
My dad was fired from Woodline Motor Freight in 1981, for trying to organize the Teamsters at his location. We thought it was the end of the world. But in 1983, he went to work for Yellow Freight Systems (union company) and retired after 22 years.

Had he stayed where he was, he would not be retired by now.

Point is, being fired was the best thing that could have happened.

11. well, at almost 50, twenty yrs to retirement sounds
discouraging. Obviously, by your dad's experience it's not the end of the world. Thanks. I have a degree that's hardly been used, that should be worth, um didly. I have something of a friends network, maybe I should re-join my AAUW chapter. it's all good.

13. True. I didn't know your age...
but, he was 41 at the time... so, with a run of good health, you should be quite okay.

3. Take it from me...
Been laid off four (4) times. File for unemployment, hit the gym, apply for jobs from 8-11, and enjoy your life. Every job I've had post-layoff paid more than the previous.

Congrats!!!

5. thank you!
that sounds like a plan! I have a degree that will do no particular door opening. I'm hoping for somenthing that requires some creativity and some good variety. Boredom is a killer!

7. wooooo hoooooo!
I had dinner with a friend, shared a split of champagne and I'm good. I've never been laid off before, but it can really only be good. I hated the job and enjoyed the people. That's worn out now.

14. good to see you Rev!
in so many ways this is a weight off my shoulders. I knew I had to quit--I really didn't want to be fired, but boredom had led to some unintened faux pas. sigh. I may get some interview clothes cut out tomorrow and ready for stitching. Oh yeah, and Daughter #1's prom dress. That too.
