There are a lot of people who think Larry Johnson can get 2000+ rushing this season or even more.

67. he sounds way too cocky
every time I hear him, although Vermeil spent alot of time dissing him for some reason too. Before him Priest was da man who broke the single season rushing touchdown record, so I think a huge amount of credit needs to goto the KC offensive line.

76. Elway made the best out of very little.
He never had a "great" receiver or a star running back to work with. He moved the offense by himself for most of his career. Plus he made it to FIVE Super Bowls, winning two.
Best EVER, IMHO!

but he also had a great supporting cast and he will be the first one to tell you that.

Trying to distinguish the player from the team led me to Dan Marino even though he never won a SB.

28. Voted for Aikman
because he was the greatest Cowboy since Staubach, who was the best ever. Bradshaw has the rings, and showed his arse in "Failure to Launch" so that has to count for something. Montana had a good run, but the obvious choice is Vince Young. Sentimental choice is former Steeler Dick Shiner.

30. HellOOOOO! No Bernie?

I despise Elway (see above) but he did carry the franchise for a long time hell they redesigned the helmets to look like him.

Montana-this has nothing to do with not likeing the 49'ers- is vastly overrated. He filled a role in an offense that required no great talent from anyone on it (aside from the offensive line). It was simple pitch and catch and throw to set up the run. I am no fan of Bill Walsh (he is enough of a fan to go around) but it was a brilliantly designed offensive mostly in its simplicity (of the play not the calling)and flexibility.

Steve Young is probably all around the most talented QB ever. The day I heard that the 49'ers got him from Tampa I actually dropped the beer I had in my hand. I couldn't believe that the entire rest of the league would let that happen if only to stop SF from having that quality of backup.

Namath was a great ICON for football but look up his stats. Barely a 50% completion rate and more interceptions than TDs.

Otto Graham deserves some mention here. Along with Paul Brown Graham created the modern day QB position as we know it. Before that you had raw talent and on the fly playing in the form of the GREAT Sammy Baugh and others. "Automatic Otto" changed the game.

Erwin Rommel in shoulder pads. More heart and guts than any player I ever saw.

QB's who didn't or don't call their own plays shouldn't even be considered.

Joe Montana was more accomplished but he had the advantage of latter day medicine and conditioning.

Undoubtably my favorite sports memories involve Johnny running the 2 minute drill.

45. My father thinks Bart Starr is God. We used to argue the point, but I
have conceded that he is the best after watching clips of him. Solid play, a head on his shoulders that we haven't seen the likes of in at least two decades. It probably helped that he knew Lombardi had no qualms with benching him if he were to make the type of decisions that Brett Favre is known for. I like Favre...but he would have been a plank rider under Lombardi.
