1. Those are amazing pics, MissHoneychurch!!
How was your visit?

Prague is such a beautiful city! A friend had the chance to visit a couple years ago, and said it was just magnificent.

Just grand. I hope to get there someday!

Thanks for posting them!

2. The visit was wonderful
The city is really just breathtaking. So much history (and tourists :) ). Prague should really become a must for every person who visits Europe.

5. If and when I'm able to go on another European tour
It's at the top of my list.

I'd love to go to Transylvania, as well.

Germany and Austria, both...I would love to go, especially during the Aachen showjumping meet. Christmas in Vienna...don't know why, but it has always appealed to me.

My ancestors came from Ukraine and Poland, and would love to see the areas where they came from, too. :hi:

8. Poland has great cities to go to as well
the Ukraine I am not so sure. Except Kiev of course. Last year I went to Wrozlaw with my family. We went to places where my grandfather grew up. It was really interesting.

14. Considering they came at the turn of last century
from little farming villages...it was still Austro-Hungary when they left...I have no idea what country their towns will be in now. LOL

I used to have dreams when I was quite younger, about what those villages, and the geography, looked like. Much later, I slowly started to see films, pictures, etc of the area, and they looked so close to my dreams.

I wonder if genetic memory is a truth?

I don't think Ukraine is as big of a tourist destination than Poland, I agree. Bulgaria is another place I'd like to visit.

27. You never had my baba's cooking!

Take the absolute worst of the worst of Ukrainian food, and that's what she served us. Ugh. Pickled odd stuff, headcheese, sour cabbage rolls..I always lost weight when I visited her. Luckily, it wasn't for very long...she wasn't a nice lady, to say the least, and she was a stop along the way across a 7000 km road trek (Toronto to Calgary, Edmonton, then back to Toronto via Saskatchewan. This was done every second year up until I was 16).

Other relatives cooked up MUCH better Ukrainian food. :bounce:

All in all, it is great food!! :9

I hope you have a wonderful visit, and feast, with your Ukrainian friends!! :hi:

In Berlin my brother reserved a table for one of the evenings in a restaurant where you eat in darkness. You don't see what you eat. It will be very interesting. I don't know if we can choose what to eat before or not.

As one who, long, long ago, in a lifetime far, far away, made his living with a camera, I must say your eye is quite impressive!

__
Your photographs almost compensate for the disappointment of knowing that, barring an almost miraculous reversal of my personal fortunes, I shall never see those lovely places with my own eyes...

Thank you so very much for sharing...

79. Thank you! I am sitting here in tears. It is so beautiful there
I am 100% Slovak. My Dad was born near Kosice. I have always wanted to visit. My sister made it to Prague a few years ago when she interviewed with the Voice of America. My Dad passed away in 2004 and my Mom won't travel.

Maybe one day I will get there. Please post more pics when you have time :-).

85. Great pics!!! I didn't know they had a Jan Hus memorial in Prague
Back in the 80s, I was a member of a Hussite church called the Moravian Church. I only thought they'd memorialized him in Bavaria. Nice to be proven wrong! :hi:
