1. Best Rickey Henderson story:

Rickey used to play in Toronto at the same time as John Olerud ('93). Olerud was known for wearing his batting helmet even when fielding.

In '99 both players were NY Mets. One day in the dugout, Rickey sees Olerud with the batting helmet on, getting ready to take the field. He says, "When I was in Toronto I played with a guy who wore his helmet all the time."

Olerud: "That was me."

2. That is hilarious

Olerud had some physical condition that made him have to do wear it. Ahh Ricky you can steal bases but you can't remember your own teammate. Thanks for that story gave me a chuckle.

Rickey was conceited but I think deep down he's an okay guy. There are certainly worse teammates out there (Albert Belle, anyone? or how about Bill Romanowski?)

I remember being on the deck listening to the radio being happy that they signed him and yes in hindsight I should have known better. His 5 year 65 million buck salary finally died last year too. Ryan Leaf too. You stay classy Ryan Leaf.
