Office parties in the 70's
I was talking to a friend I worked with at a book bindery in the 70's the other day and we were remembering the Christmas party we had at work that year. Times were different then.

Okay, so mind you, this was a factory. Lots of big, dangerous machinery and chemicals. Three shifts of work. On the last night before we shut down for the holiday, the bosses threw a party for us. The break room table was covered in cases of beer. Employees went out to the store and bought tons of alcohol and people were drinking at their stations all night. We were all plastered with the management's blessing. It was insane.

And at the end of the shift (when no one, amazingly, had been killed), we all drove home. If I didn't know several people who remember it as well as I do, I'd think I'd imagined the whole thing.

3. The radio station I was working at this christmas was like that
All of the office staff were drinking bailey's and coffee by 11:30 in the morning... us on air guys couldn't though, cause it's against the law for people on the radio to be drinking.

4. nice while it lasted
I worked in a glass blowing factory where durring summer the ambient temp hovered in the low 100's. On fridays the owners would bring in cases of cold beer, soft drinks and water. this went on through 3 summers. one friday the company's insurance rep stopped by to get some papers signed. after that no more beer.
