Minor League star hits ump with bat. Intentional? (Video)
"Top Tampa Bay prospect Delmon Young was suspended indefinitely by the International League on Thursday, a day after throwing a bat that hit a replacement umpire in the arm."

You cant actually see Young throwing the bat. He may have just errantly flung it as he was walking away?
You DONT fling a bat like that!

1. That didn't look 'errant' to me
You can't actually see him throw it, so I can't judge for sure, but the batters that I've seen flip bats away in disgust don't put that kind of spin or velocity on it.

That bat was moving. Glad the umpire was okay...bet he's thankful for all that padding that he usually considers bulky and uncomfortable.

2. He was obviously throwing a temper tantrum.
He may not have intentionally hit the ump, but these things tend to happen when one is being a hot-head.

3. The D-Rays org is debating on suspending him for 30 days or rest of season
If he did throw that bat at the ump, he should be out for the season.

4. I agree with you there!
If he targeted the ump on purpose, then there is no excuse for that. They should clamp down hard and fast.

But the bat took a pretty good bounce. It looked as though he may have thrown it down rather than *at* the ump, but from the video it is hard to know for sure.
