Does anyone have one of those cabinet depth refrigerators?
We're shopping for appliances and I'm considering getting one. It's quite big, so I'm not worried about the Cu. Ft. But what I wonder about is whether the shallower depth is a problem, as far as fitting things into it.

1. My brother and Sister in law have one. You can't fit an average boxed
frozen pizza in the freezer, but otherwise it's okay. Because they have a freezer in the basement, it isn't a big issue. They got the Frigidaire and they really like it.

3. Thanks, MrsG.
We have a big freezer. Our current side-by-side refrigerator is quite small and we can't fit a pizza in either side. We're looking at a Whirlpool. Decisions, decisions ... it's stressful as well as exciting looking for new appliances and trying to stay within the allowance. If I do it right, I'll be able to get the washer and dryer I want. :D

4. Just don't buy a Maytag...

We're selling our appliances with our house. The fridge is a brand new (rather big...26 I think) Whirlpool and we have a new Whirlpool Dishwasher. The stove is about 8 years old, but a very serviceable Kitchen Aid. The washer and dryer (the infamous Neptune pair) are going as well. ;)

I love shopping for new appliance, vacuums you name it. Have fun! If I were closer, I'd go with you!

5. I KNEW you were going to say that
as soon as I hit the button! No, we're probably getting Whirlpool. I've been happy with their appliances. I like Kenmore, too, but they've gotten too expensive.

We're leaving all the appliances with this house except for the washer and dryer. We have to rent for almost a year and there's no washer/dryer in the rental house. But we never offered it with the house anyway. How do you like your Whirlpool appliances?

I think the builder is actually going to shop with me for a lot of stuff once we get to TN. I'd love to go with you!

7. I love our Whirlpool fridge! It's huge. I don't even have to use the
freezer in the basement as much as I used to with the old one. I like having the filtered water too. Our dishwasher is super quiet. MrG took the insulation from around the old one and added it to the new one, so all you can hear really is clicking. I would recommend a Whirlpool to anyone. We've never had to call for service. ***knock wood***

8. That's good to know!
We're looking at a 25.3 Cu. Ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator. We have a 21.7 now, which is a bit small for us. The dishwasher we're looking at has some quiet something III sound package. That's one thing harleydad insists on. He hates noisy appliances! We currently have a Whirlpool micro-hood combo that we LOVE. We're getting a wall oven in the new house, so we'll get the Whirlpool oven/microwave combo.

Knocking wood for you. I've never had a service call for any appliances EVER except for a washing machine that got a pair of baby tights stuck between the tubs. But I don't like the GE appliances that the builder put in this house. They're all the cheapest he could find.

9. Ours is a 25.3 side by side. You'll really like it. We did notice some

black powdery substance on the inside for the first week, but it was residue from the filter for the water. It went away and only comes back for a short time when the filter is replaced. It is easily wiped off.

On edit: Here it is

10. Oh, pretty!
That looks almost like the one we're looking at, only ours has longer handles. How often do you have to replace the filter? Does it filter the water for the ice cubes, too?

11. Yes it does, and the icemaker has an automatic shut off when the bin
is full. We replace ours every 6 months per the manufacturer's recommendations for heavy water usage.

Edit: The only thing is that they don't have one in the store, so we can't see it IRL.

13. Really nice! I like the longer handles! This must be the latest model.
The base, where the filter is, looks exactly like ours. I love the wide gallon holders in the doors that Whirlpool has. The space in these fridges is amazing. Except I have to be more on my toes because leftovers tend to get shoved to the back...and you know what happens then. Do you have any other stores that you could go to just to get a look at it?

15. I don't know if we do.
But there are several in the general neighborhood in TN, so I'm sure we'll see one. Something that really puzzles me is that the prices online are higher than in the store. I wonder what that's about? That's if they carry the same models at all. It makes it a bit difficult to shop. We really wanted the one with the spout that spins around for filling pitchers, but it's WAY too expensive.

We don't usually have leftovers, so that won't be a problem. I'm big on veggies and fruits ... fill the frig on Saturday and it's usually empty by Friday evening. But a week's worth of fruits and veggies takes up a lot of room!

They are amazing and really work. I had three bunches of bananas that stayed fresh for over a two weeks. It's like magic. :)

17. That is amazing!
We'll have to give them a try. Bananas go bad SO fast! x(

I'm going to have to get my day started. I'm feeling SO lazy! Thanks for all the info. I think I'm going to settle on that refrigerator. Next time: We'll explore the differences in different models of Whirlpool Front Loading Washing Machines.

2. I always liked the small upright variety better.

Too much stuff got lost in the bottom of the chest-type.

6. Thank you, Joani!
:D I think you might be talking about freezers. I'm seriously thinking about this. We had a chest freezer once and it was extremely efficient. But I hated defrosting it b/c it had no drain and I had to scoop the water out of it. Now we have an upright and it's very inefficient. Sometimes the door doesn't even stay closed. So I'm thinking about going back to a chest freezer with a drain ... I don't want a frost-free one. Too bad they don't come with little elevators inside so you don't risk falling in. (I'm short ... makes it hard to reach stuff.)

18. Well, I think that coffee will help!
:D But actually, it was good of you to remind me what a pain in the arse the chest freezers are. We are looking for ALL appliances, after all. The builder says we have to pick them out first thing.

I'm gonna steal those pretty posies! Thanks! :loveya:
