1. my girlfriend and I are wicked fans of P & P

though I haven't been able to bring myself to go and see the new one. She went and saw it and said Mr. D was not up to "par".

I guess I'm torn now. Maybe when it's on dvd.

14. I LOVED IT! Do keep in mind

that it's a film adaptation that enjoys being just that. P&P was my favorite teenie book. I've read it at least 25 times. The film is etwas anders. Let it stand on its own merit without comparison. I saw it twice and dreamed of doin' Darc fer a WEEK!!! ;-)

6. Kinda mopey.

The new P&P killed all the funny, but it still had some great Wuthering Heights melodrama. And Sutherland, nearly invisible in one of the greatest parts ever written, nailed the last scene with Lizzie in a way that justified the movie's whole approach. Neat-o.

Nothing can touch the '95 BBC version, though. Nothing.

and by the end, I loved him. Which mirrors exactly Lizzie's feelings for him. I think it was deliberate on the part of the filmmakers. As the movie progresses you get more and more close-ups of those soulful eyes. Mmmm...
