Blind Faith - the cover with the girl on the front
Bob Dylan - Blonde on Blonde

I also got a slew of Steely Dan, Neil Young, Rolling Stones and a few other Bob Dylan albums

1. We got Elliot Smith's From a Basement on a Hill last night
180 gram vinyl. My wife is a big Elliot Smith fan.
If your ever in Annapolis there is a record store on Main street that has a collection of vinyl. The new heavy presses are expensive the used stuff is $6 each. I almost bought the 30th anniversary Dark Side of the Moon but at $37 I thought it was overpriced.

Nice finds, how much are you paying per disk?

2. I avoid the stores that sell vinyl
Problem with those places is they pick through everything and mark up the good stuff. I'd rather go to the flea market where who knows what you'll find and there is a strong chance the person selling doesn't have a clue

3. I agree
Yard sales are the best and church bazaars are usually good hunting grounds. But sometimes you got to bite the bullet and pay real money for something you really want.

5. There's a place in Pittsburgh that's worth the trip.
http://www.jerrysrecords.com/ One million lps and 45's most in the $3-$5 range. Be prepared to spend hours. Right in the middle of the best neighborhood in town, too.

12. Yeah, but that's all overpriced and probably picked over
I'm talking boxes of the unsorted and unknown that someone is unwittingly selling everything for $1

That's the good stuff!

14. You can't beat $1.00 but Jerry's is the real deal.
I know you're happy with what you get.

6. The most unusual find I ever had was when I moved into my apartment
in Somerville, MA about 7 years ago. I went down to the basement, and on a shelf, the previous tenant had left two clean LP's, an original pressing of the first Big Brother & The Holding Company album, and an original pressing of Jerry Garcia's "Cats Under the Stars" album.

Very bizarre that I'd find two random albums in my basement that were already well loved by me :)

8. Because you are a devotee of vinyl...
may I ask you a question?

At an estate sale a few weeks ago I picked up a still-sealed copy of the film soundtrack to "South Pacific". It appears to date from near when the movie came out (1958ish), rather than being a later re-issue.

Any idea where I could unload this record for large cash?

Thanks!:hi:

10. Your best bet is probably Ebay
You can get an idea of what the record is going for there

17. I have 2 sets of shelving next to the entertainment center
Right now there is about 500 records on them plus a crate on top with all my classical and misc. type records. But I am running out of room.

I have plenty of space - I'll just evict the cats to the street if I run out of room

:eyes:
