Retired; they've heard of company layoffs and are starting to worry about the pension plan...

2. I can't help either...

Stupidity and subsequently "doing the right thing" rather than doing the bankruptcy route has me paying back for another 15 months or so. And I intend to get it paid back within that time frame.

My folks are having a bit of trouble right now as well. My dad's company recently locked out all union employees from their steel mill because they could not reach agreement with the union on a contract. They are in the process of hiring scabs.
