1. It would taste unusual, but I bet it would still be deliciuos
Give it a try! it definitely won't end up inedible ro anything bad. I'm sure that, at worst, you'll say "Well, I won't do that again".

Nothing wrong with seafood and red wine.

5. Only in extremis....
The red overpowers the delicacy of the shrimp..

6. I'd go white wine
Even though we rarely have it around the house. It might overpower the shrimp.

7. DONT DO IT
I am from the future. The world is truly a different place. All hell has broken lose. And its all because of some thoughtless asshole who decided to make a shrimp scampi using red wine.

Please, for the sake of humanity, don't do it!

8. It's impossible:
for one thing, red wine doesn't have a central nervous sustem, so even if you could make a scampi with it, there's be no way for all the critical systems to operate with any reliability.

11. Here is a recipe...
1 c melted butter
1/2 tsp white pepper
salt to taste
2 tsp garlic powder
3 tbsp and 1 tsp water
2 tbsp and 1 tsp red wine
40 large shrimp (peeled)
4 tsp flour
2 tsp chopped chives (optional)

Heat oven to 400 degrees F. Mix together butter, white pepper, salt, and garlic powder. Set aside. In another bowl, mix water and wine; set aside. Place shrimp in shallow baking dish, sprinkle with flour and chives (optional). Pour butter mixture evenly on top of shrimp. Place baking dish in heated oven 4 to 5 minutes. Remove from oven, pour wine mixture evenly on top of shrimp. Return to oven and bake for another 4 to 5 minutes or until shrimp are pink. Remove from oven and serve immediately over pasta.

Sometimes I use a mix of Sherry and red wine-omitting the water, but both are awesome. My husband loves it even better than when I make it with white wine. I found this on a search of the internet, one night after the shrimp had thawed and before I realized I was out of white wine. :)
