1. I really liked it... But the only thing it had in common with the
original is a few names and the Viper configuration.

Loved the analog instruments & the idea of using low tech as a defense.

3. The low tech....
was rather original IMHO and giving the Cylons the capability to
wipe out onboard computers was rather cool.
Its interesting how they had to use the "old" Vipers in order
to combat the Cylon ships.

The use of rockets by the Cylons was also another twist.

5. One "homage" to the old series I thought was kind of neat was
the cylon ship with no cockpit but the oscillating light that took out the electronins.

2. The acting was horrible....
but the series has potential if they have good writers. Its
obvious that they borrowed quite a bit from the original series but
I found it had sprinkles from other sci-fi series as well.

I still can't stand Starbuck being a woman...nothing against
women, but that character was suppossed to be a man.
And Boomer is also a woman...when in the original series it was a
black man playing the part.

4. I think that people expecting Battlestar Galactica in any shape or
form, would be disappointed. The only thing this took from the original is the name.

But as a good SF in the genre of Starship Troopers and other "Space Westerns," I thought it was excellent. The cheezy acting and the smarm factors gave it enough camp. The Cylon killing the baby as a gesture of compassion was an interesting turn.

6. The old version stunk up the jernt.
Sorry, but the old Battlestar was a collection of stale cliches, total lapses in consistency and sense. (Remember the recurring thread where everyone decided to accept the offer of "If we just give them all of our weapons, they will let us go!") This one actually appears to have a brain.

7. You are wrong, Sir, simply wrong
I was really happy to tape this show, and will tape the rest as well. Cliched and hackneyed, with a few grace moments, it was still better than most tv shows on the air today.

The cinematography reminded me of Space:Above and Beyond, another show I thought seriously underrated.

The lack of cylon bullshit also appealed to me. I liked the idea of the humanoid robots (old Bladerunner fan) and the more modern soldier Cylons were sleek and menacing; much less clunky than the original Romanesque kinds. You did catch the diagram of the original types in the opening scene on the "armistice station" right?

Hey, its TV SF. What do you expect?

I liked it.

9. I didn't like it. I liked the first one.
They forgot that the premise of the first one was that of the civilizations that were transferred to earth as one of the colonies, the most distant. I never cared about the Cylon thing and thought it was probably good for only one story arc. This is dull Sci-Fi and to tell the truth I prefer Andromeda.

10. So many different tastes in SF... Andromeda bores me....
I like the ship, but for some reason the story line never grabbed me. I think they lost me when they got rid of "Rev."

11. I liked the Rev too and I felt the show lost something
without the character. I think these shows aren't pulling us into it. I made a reference to the Andromeda show because Galactica should have been very artistically different, yet it seems to follow a pattern of making this as generically cheap as we can for Sci-Fi addicts, not connoisseurs, sort of like the reality shows. I can accept that in Andromeda because it doesn't pretend to be anything different than a Saturday morning space show, but this did.

12. I think one thing that may have endeared this show to me is that I
expected the worst. After seeing the way they butchgeres PJ Farmer's RIVERWORLD, I thought this would be just as bad. They had people from Bab5, Xena & STNG involved in this and it showed.

I was a big Sorbo fan though, I loved the Hercules franchise and was hoping Andromeda would be as entertaining.

13. I would like to see stuff as entertaining as Herc and Xena.
Andromeda though is from the Star Trek mothership.

14. I think (but don't know for sure) that the only real link Andromeda
has to ST is the fact that Raddenberry may have done the first treatment and Majel sold the idea.

That's all supposition on my part, I'm sure there's someone here who knows more than I do on this,

15. I thought it was pretty good...
the beginning grabbed me into it...I'm not a big fan of Edward James Olmos...but so far so good...
The newer cylons looked very cool...and the ship had a new twist to them...
The baby neck-snapping incident upset my roommate a little...but she figured it out...

There was a couple of times that the story skipped around a bit but I think I am going to keep watching now...

I just wish one thing...that there were not so many damn commercials...that pisses me off when there is more commercial time then there is actual movie time...

16. Most remakes are like that...
The clips I saw in the TV advert did have an "Armageddon" feel to it. And "Armageddon" was a very stinky movie indeed... I taped it and might watch it, but the original series did work for a while...
