I've been calligraphy-ing Christmas cards all night
and boy is my arm tired. Next year, I'm just sending emails. Anyone else sick of doing holiday stuff? Why do we bother?

1. I don't anymore
Been there, done all that. Big parties, taffy-pulling, pageants, wrapping until the wee hours, yadda yadda.

Life is simpler now. If I were by myself, I'd probably just have a toddy and a book. But I have a handicapped daughter who loves festive things so I still must "make" Christmas, only very much smaller.

2. Been there
Lost the holidays for a few years when my last child left, but the holiday is back with toys to buy for my grandchild! Must be an excuse thing to spoil children!

3. I'm a Christmas freeloader
I haven't even started on holday stuff and I'm not sure how much I'll even do. Some years all I do is decorate my computer with a Christmas screensaver. This year I think I'll draw the line with some poinsettias on the mantel.

One thing I absolutely will not do is decorate with anything that has needles that can be found into July. I hate putting all that Christmas stuff away so I might not even get it out!

I used to have a friend who created a calligraphy card every year and I looked forward to it a lot. Unfortunately, we've lost touch over the years. So to answer your question, why we bother is because others enjoy it.

Everybody else goes so overboard on Christmas that one doesn't really have to do anything much to enjoy it. But then if everyone had my attitude....

Cher
