I have major Cat Fights at my house
I am getting sick of my two Male cat's constantly fighting each other. Since Ramona died they both have been fighting each other day and night and they both are declawed. They keep biting each other and I am afraid one of the cats are going to get hurt.

Yesterday Valentino my large White cat who has the prettiest blue/green eyes and he is so white that he looks like he is pink because he has the pinkest skin under his white fur. Val was sitting on the floor minding his own business when Little Al my red tabby Persian jumped him. He looked like a bowling pin falling over and I had to laugh at first because of the way that he tipped over.

It took a long time for Valentino to get use to us because he was outside in the Chicago winter for 6 months before he found us.

These two boys keep fighting and its mainly my red haired cat initiating the beatings on the White Cat.

Little Al is the size of a six month old kitten and I don't know where or how he has all of the energy and nerve to attack Val.

Ramona use to get in the middle of the two boys and lift her paw up and swat them with her nails when they would start up but now she is gone.

Has anyone ever tried to pull two cats apart in the middle of a cat fight?

1. My favorite exchange from "Seinfeld"
Eliane: Why do men like to watch 2 women in a cat fight?
Jerry: Because they might... kiss.

It's funny because it's true!

4. I wish they would kiss and love each other
I would prefer to have two gay male cats that love each other.

2. Fill a bunch of old spray bottles (like Windex) with water and
keep them strategically located around the house. A timely spritz of water on the attacker should have an effect.

6. That Will Work, For Sure
We trained all our cats that way. We've had cats, strictly indoor, with their claws intact, since 1979. We've never lost a piece of furniture or curtains to scratching and never had serious catfight.

That is a great behavior mod tool for kitties. A little water in the face can't hurt 'em, but it sure gets them thinking about the rules.

3. Why not get another fixed female cat
seems like that was the dynamic that worked. Would give the boys someone to keep them in line.

7. She would be sitting there minding her own business and
She would swat them and it would stop them immediately it was so funny to watch because she looked like she was in the middle of reading a book and as she turned the page in the middle of the turn "Swat" then the go about reading the book.

I don't know how to explain it but it was like nothing to her.

I wish I could get a female but I have a two cat limit in this building and I was over my limit before.

8. I use to have 4 cats
Calico's are pretty sedate aren't they? I would go nuts if all 4 of them would start fighting at the same time.

Like I told you before Streak looked like my Mia. They are so damn cute.

9. A couple of years ago
I moved back into my mom's house for 6 months between apartments. I had a cat. she had a cat. Her cat was very, very defensive. My cat was very shy and scared. Her cat terrorized my cat anytime they came in contact. My cat was so nice and polite, but her cat, which is normally a furry ball of fun, turned evil.
The situation became tense and unpleasant. We tried squirting my mom's cat, but she was so hostile it did not work. It got to the point where she was unpleasant to be around, as she was always hissing and crying.
When I moved out, my mom's cat got better again.
