6. Your mother looks she was someone who enjoyed a good laugh
Edited on Sun May-14-06 09:40 AM by Gormy Cuss
She had a great smile. My mother made us laugh and encouraged us to retain our optimism even when the world around us was falling apart. She was also a lifelong activist Democrat.

For your mother, and mine:

if there are any heavens my mother will(all by herself)have
one. It will not be a pansy heaven nor
a fragile heaven of lilies-of-the-valley but
it will be a heaven of blackred roses

23. Happy Mother's Day Ellie
and all mom's that are no longer with us.

More importantly, Happy Mother's Day to the children of the mom's that have left us.

Spend today remembering their love, their laughter, what they taught you, what they mean to you.

Don't mourn their passing, celebrate their lives and their love.

:toast:

Happy Mother's Day, Everyone! :grouphug:

My sweet friend, Popey, your mother is beautiful and she is smiling down on you. She gets to bug the big guy for you and she is no longer in pain.

I send you my love, I offer you cyber hugs and I keep you and yours in my prayers. :loveya:

Ellie, please go find Dottie and talk about us, I know she'll like you and I'm sure she has a story or two about me that will remind you of your darling Ruth.

Happy Mother's Day, Mom. :loveya:

and they told me after 7 months, they were burned out, they tossed 'em back to me. I had no choice but to make it work.

Thanks to intheflow and usedtobesick coming over and helping me get the debris out of a portion of the yard and putting up the dog pen (or is it pin), things have worked out and all my babies are with me.

42. I drove down to my mother's grave Saturday.
It's about two hours from here, in a remote community called 'Buttermilk'.

We had my dad's name put on the headstone also, with an anniversary picture screened in the middle. It's a constant reminder that someday, he'll be gone too, and I want to spend all the time I can with him.

She was a wonderful person. She loved the Beatles, was a hippie, wasn't afraid to have fun, not a bigoted bone in her body, never met a person who wasn't her friend, taught me what it meant to be a good person.

I love you mom.

24. My Ma. 3/3/33 - 3/28/05
I miss you so much Ma. I miss how you took care of everybody and everything.
I miss how when the times were bad you would smooth it all out and make everybody feel better.
I miss your strength and understanding, for you took care of a schizophrenic mother and son as well as an Alcoholic and Bi-Polar husband. You cared for these people till the days that they died. I honestly cant see how you did this.
I miss our bi-weekly, coast to coast phone calls. Your calls came like clockwork and were the highlight of my week for so many years.
I miss your laugh, sense of humor and utter disgust for the Republican line.

I miss how you stuck up for us kids, your 3 sons, 3 stooges as you called us, whether we were right or wrong. This you did in public. If we were the bad ones you'd give us an earful along with a couple of Sicilian curses in private.
I miss your cooking and how you did it up on holidays preparing Italian feasts that were well known throughout our neighborhood. Lasagna, veal cutlets, stuffed shells, pizziola, pasta fazgouli... You were no slouch on American food either.
I miss how you doted on your grandchildren even though you were 3000 miles away. I'd get mad when you would send them cool toys and money without asking me, but it always worked out OK. BTW they miss you greatly too.

I dint know a person on this planet that EVER had a bad thing to say about Ma. The world is a little less bright since you left us.

Little story here about my Ma.
You may or may not know that I am a stutterer. Have been my whole life. I was also a Cub Scout and the monthly pack meetings always dedicated an hour to EVERY scout to stand up in front of the crowd and recite the scout oath, solo. Oh what fun it was for me! One time I was up there and having severe blocks and facial twitches. There were several chuckles from the audience. One woman said "Oh thats so cute". Then I hear Ma yelling. "Its not cute, he's having a hard time and you're laughing at him? I betcha I can find things about all of you or your kids to laugh at. Huh? Ya think? Geeezus Christ!" The place became silent, I took a deep breath and aced the rest of the oath without a hitch. At that event she was my hero and remained that till she died last year.

I miss you Ma but I know that you are in the good place right now.
Happy Mothers Day.

This is my mom, Victoria, on her wedding day:

She was a kind, thoughtful, friendly, fun, generous, hard-working and loving woman. Smart, but she didn't think so...not book smart, but could see right through a situation and know how to deal with it...and people. She was a wonderful diplomat.

She died on July 10, 1997, age 75 after battling pancreatic cancer for 5 months.

40. My mother

January 18, 1948 - January 8, 2002.

She wasn't dying... but somehow she knew.

"I want to have Christmas at home this year."

We hadn't had Christmas in my parents' little house in 12 years. We all had spouses and children now, and it would be crowded - but she insisted that her kids come home. Christmas was her holiday, and we all knew it.

It would be the last Christmas we got to spend with her. A massive stroke took her life barely two weeks later.

We all miss her. She was the bravest person I've ever known. She was not afraid to take on anything. She had little education, other than cosmetology school, but Mother (not mommy, or mama, or mom) was always the best at everything she did.

she died in 2003, unexpectedly as a result of chemo. She was 67.

I don't have a pic scanned of her, but I do have my memorial tattoo...

She was the greatest woman I ever met. She is the reason I am a liberal today. Not a mean bone in her body. I miss her so much.

63. My mother died a month ago.
I went to put flowers on her grave today. It felt so strange to have to go to the cemetery to say "Happy Mother's Day". She was so wonderful--I just don't understand how she can be so totally, completely gone when she had such a huge heart and spirit.

 I'm sorry for your loss. It hasn't been quite a year yet since I lost my mom. All those "firsts" are really hard.

My mom was kind to strangers and always fought for the under dog, I miss her very much.
