7. It's a pun - partly - and criticism also of people who make a living
on Religion, but then I was raised old RC. Vows of poverty and humble service don't look much like what you see on TV.

The pun is on an old coloquialism, "By Jesus!" - a derivative of "By the Lord" or "By God!" of something of thatsort.

thanks for that

i definitely understand where that comes from - what we see and hear is literally worlds away from what jesus was about but then again how could we wage wars and spread hate and protect our way of life if Almighty God didnt tell us to

sarcasm off

29. very much so. hideous it is
and you have absolutely every right to be pissed
i dont mean that to sound like you need or want my blessing but i really get why people dont want anything to do with religion let alone a specific figure like Jesus

He is absolutely unrecognizeable in this world - and im truly sorry for what you have experienced

"Steal your face" is a line from a Dead tune which has become an expression of sorts.
Not sure what "bong hits 4 Jesus" is, but it's been awhile since I have seen a bong!

12. If I remember the drug-addled daze (sic) of my youth aright...
...'steal your face' was something of a stoner game. You'd float over to a fellow inhaler and wave your hand in front of their face saying 'I steal your face.' The 'victim' would then often go into a mildly paranoid frenzy, pleading that their face be returned. This occasioned general hilarity among the rest of the gathered celebrants.

Like most things done under the influence, it seemed pant-wettingly funny at the time, yet a bit less so in these straitened times.

I've played it in large, multi-age groups, using a deck of cards to identify the roles - - E - v - e - r - y - one got into! it and laughed lots and lots and played the different roles with a lot of fun.

20. Or the reverse of that putting someone in a bubble
you'd tell the victim they were in a bubble and could hear nothing outside the bubble. then of course on cue someone would mute the music and everyone would instantly silence themselves but go on miming their conversations. ok, yeah it worked on me the first time.B-)

15. Kenneth Starr to take on 'Bong Hits 4 Jesus' case
Kenneth Starr to take on 'Bong Hits 4 Jesus' case

May 4, 2006

JUNEAU, Alaska -- Kenneth Starr, the former Whitewater special prosecutor, will represent the city school board in appealing a court ruling that favored a high school student who displayed a ''Bong Hits 4 Jesus'' banner during an Olympic torch relay.

The school board wants the U.S. Supreme Court to hear the case. In April, an appeals court said school officials violated the student's free speech rights when they suspended him for 10 days.

Starr, who is dean at Pepperdine Law School in Malibu, Calif., has agreed to take the case for free, said Phyllis Carlson, president of the school board.

''Federal law requires us to maintain a consistent message that use of drugs like marijuana is harmful and illegal. Yet, when we try to enforce our policies, our administrators are sued and exposed to damage awards,'' she said.

27. Yeah, what do you know...
even if our alleged "representatives" don't do anything about the outright lies from the government and suppression of civil rights like free speech, at least we can (for now) trust the courts to do something about it.

Ken Starr desperately needs a life.

25. Bong hits for Jesus
It was a famous case for the ACLU in Juneau, AK.

A kid held up a sign sying "Bong hits for Jesus" during an Olympic Torch rally.

The kid was suspended from school for it by his principal. During a school holiday and not on schools property.

They ACLU won the case. The High School then appealed to the USSC.

KEN STARR is taking on the case pro bono for the High School.
