Yes, it was a big deal. They lost Maxine's love interest last year (the very handsome and delectable Richard Crenna) too.

just about broke my heart. Crenna went back to early TV - he was a student on 'Our Miss Brooks' (forgot the character's name). He was 'Luke' on 'The Real McCoys' w/ Walter Brennen. Always liked him.
