HEY! How 'bout them COWBOYS???
Biff!

Smack!

Ka-Pow!

Oooof!

They got slapped as badly as the Joker's Henchmen in an old Batman TV show. McNabb is fully healed and playing like the MVP Quarterback he looked like for three years!

(I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous about this during his early season slump, but I kept telling myself that three years COULDN'T have been an illusion)

The Cowboys, under Parcells, will likely have their day. Hell, everyplace else the Tuna has gone he has done that, but they need some serious help and I have my extreme doubts as to whether Quincy Carter is the man to lead them there.

Further, Dallas wide receivers, for all their skills, are all soft as marshmellows and you don't win Super Bowls with those kinds of guys.

I think Tuna's assessment of Terry Glenn was correct in the New England days, and I think Mr. Glenn has quite strongly reminded Mr. Parcells of that assessment with his recent play.

Anyway, if the Eagles meet Dallas in the playoffs, it's goodbye to them!

As for the Eagles...nothing will satsify but a Super Bowl victory. Andy Reid, especially if he gets his Super Bowl victory but even if he doesn't, may well ahve cemented himself as one of the very best active coach, averaging 11+ wins over four seasons, making the Eagles the winningest team over that time.

All that is left is the elusive Super Bowl. Time will tell.

But how 'bout them COWBOYS?

1. You mean COWSISSIES
I just revelled in that game. I swear the best thing about OxyRush's comment about McNabb was that it was the turning point of the season

:bounce:

Go Eagles!!!!

2. I thought you guys didn't put much stock in the Cowboy games
At least that's what you've said in the past. Again, you will probably make it to the conference championship, and even may get to the superbowl, but you won't get that "elusive super bowl" win. Not with this current crop in the AFC. Three times without getting to the big win will become demoralizing, and a new, younger team will once again come up from the ashes. Remember those "great" Eagle teams from the late 80's and early 90's? Crashed and burned. And who came out from the ashes. A new and revitalized Dallas, and three more Lombardi trophies to add to the collection.

History will repeat itself. It may not be for a little while longer, but it will come.

How bout them Cowboys? I'm still looking at 5 trophies on my screen saver. How many you looking at?

5. Yes, it's smack. But Philly is damn good
I can see them winning the NFC. But New England would hand them their heads in a superbowl.

It's funny. If we started a thread about the Cowboys in first place, we'd be called arrogant. But if it comes from anywhere else, it's called pride.

People are the same everywhere. When their team does well, they get full of themselves. No matter what city or region in the country they come from.

14. Plus, Philly has to get to the Super Bowl, and that is by no means assured
There are some good signs. Bulger is intereception prone and not half as good as Warner was. Faulk is still terrific but they are missing Proehl and Hakim, reducing their weaponry.

Still, going to St. Louie and their dome is iffy at best.

4. Ah, the age old cry of the Cowgirls dork...
Edited on Wed Dec-10-03 04:19 PM by tom_paine
We shall see. Of course, thanks to Michael Irvin and the Cocaine Connection, the Cowgirls are no longer getting 2-3 extra wins a year & at least one Super Bowl awarded to them by the refs.

No longer America's Team...perhaps Amerika's Team though, now you have to win on your own merits. No more double-and-triple phony pass intereference calls to miraculously win the game the CowPuds were behind in, eh?

Remember the '95 Dallas-Green Bay Championship game? YOU LOST like Bush in Florida, but the "Supreme Court" (the refs fellating Cokehead Irvin and the rest of Amerika's Team, ensuring Dallas stayed close while Green Bay whomped 'em in the first half...remember?) reversed the decision and so add One Super Bowl to the literaly dozens of wins awarded the Cowboys by adoring refs.

What's really humorous nowadays is that, ultimate payback, the EAGLES are getting some ref help. Of course, not so grotesquely blatant as the Phony Pass Interefernce calls which added 2-3 CowPud "wins" every year, but a little friendly calling nonetheless.

Of course, I don't feel guilty in the least. Taste your OWN medicine for awhile. See how you like it. Gonna be MUCH harder to win a sixth without the refs on your side.

"Cowboys fans are frontrunning cockaroaches."

6. Oh, and the age old cry of the bitter Philly fan
Edited on Wed Dec-10-03 04:32 PM by Ishoutandscream
How proposterous. That's right. It was the refs. It was the whole league. It was all set up!! No, those Cowboy teams had no talent. No how, no way.

Again, you can't counter the argument about the trophies. You can cry and whine all you want about those trophies being handed to us, but nonetheless, there here baby. And your franchise doesn't have a single one.

I have said in several posts that the Eagles were the team to beat in the east, even after Dallas beat them earlier. I'm the rational one here. Your arrogance is showing, and once again proving that the Dallas game is "the game" in Philly.

By the way, born and raised in Dallas and proud of it. Been going to Cowboy games since 1964 and the old Cotton Bowl. So Howard can take his bitter ass and go to hell.

Hey, if Philly wins the whole thing, I'll be the first to congratulate you. And I won't say something as ridiculous and insane about the officials or the league handing it to you.

Cocaine Cowboys. Ah, the statement of a truly bitter person.

Double edit - Darryl "Moose" Johnston on the Randy Galloway show yesterday afternoon - "Philadelphia fans are insane." Of course, I'm sure he meant it in the nicest way.

10. Say what you want but the truth is the truth
Ask a Giants fan, a Packers fan, a Steelers fan, ANY FAN and they will tell you of the Ref Aid the Cowboys received all those years.

Of course I guess those Giants fans are bitter because they have no Super Bowl Trophies, right?

Yes, the Cowboys had talent. Lots of talent. Staubach and Aikman. Dorsett and Smith. Pearson and Coke Freak Irvin. All true. But the simple truth of the matter is that you would not have won at least one of your trophies without the help of the refs.

You say you are so even-keeled. Well, I got one better for you. Now that the refs are aiding the Eagles in a less-grotesquely obvious, but similar way, you don't see me running from it as you are. As I said, having watched the CowPuds and, to a lesser degree the Niners, receive this treatemnt all those years it's about time Philly got some payback.

And you can try to put words in my mouth all you want about how Dallas is "the game", which to some degree it is but not in the way you assert, but that doesn't make it true.

And guess what, if the Eagles are down by 5 points in the Super Bowl and they get 2 or 3 questionable pass intereference calls of the Cokehead Irvin variety, then I'll be the FIRST to say we owe our victory to the Refs. I've already said that about a couple games the Eagles have "won" in the past 4 years. I'd ask why you can't do the same, but I suppose the arrogance of the Dallas Fan won't allow you to do that.

And you can bitch about about me calling Irvin a cokehead...but it's true.

True and true and true. You can say all you want about how it's a sign of bitterness, but it's true. Irvin was and probably is a cokehead, especially now that he doesn't even have to worry about beating a piss test, which he clearly did repeatedly during his coke-snortin' days in Dallas.

So again I say, I'm sorry if my telling the truth about Irvin's cocaine habit makes you think I'm bitter (HINT: I would think that your constant appeals to the past and denials of the simple truth is the Classic Cry of Dallas Arrogance, which is really a variuant of Bushevik arrogance), but it's just the simple truth. I apologize if the truth hurts you. I didn't know you were so sensitive about your arrogant and corrupt hero.

If it makes you feel any better, Emmitt Smith is a very nice man, by all accounts...and not a cokehead.

Feel better?

15. Very good point, frylock!
That was the OTHER PART of Ref Aid. NOT ONLY would Dallas get the phony calls, but they could essentially do ANYTHING to the opposing teams AND NOT GET CALLED FOR IT!

Yes, Irvin was the King of the Uncalled Pushoff and the Phony Pass Interference Call, it's true.

Thank you, Michael Irvin, for your arrogance and coke-snorting, for walking into the courtroom dressed like a pimp, for all you did to make the refs see that Dallas wasn't America's Team and stop giving them special treatment.

Did you enjoy watching a man lying paralyzed on the ground? I don't care how much you hate the person, that is plain sick.

That would be like a Redskin hater showing glee at Theisman's injury. Sick.

Well, they may have ended his career. But Irvin ended many a season of the Eagles. And he has three rings.

In fact, Isas, I think you should come on up and sample some of that good Philly hospitality at the Linc next year.

A good time will be had be all...

And as for Philly, unlike Dallas, the Bushevik capital of the World, people despise phonies and arrogance.

Irvin, both a phony and arrogant, fits the bill to a tee. Of course, I understand, having spend some time in Tejas myself while in the service, your worship for phonies and arrogance is unbounded by anything except your own limitless arrogance (which has no limits, if you get my meaning).

27. Well, I have simply stated facts
And you have yet to address them in a rational way. It was obvious that your hatred of the Cowboys is far deeper - it is a bigotry that you have not only toward to Texans, but to Dallasites.

Again, answer these question. Is it arrogant to say Dallas has won superbowls? Is it arrogant to say that Dallas has a better won lose record against Philly?

You have gone on to equate that all Dallasite are "Busheviks." You have gone on to say that Dallas won superbowls by getting the calls. Let someone rational read your threads and mine, and let them point out not only who is being arrogant, but who also is going off the deep end. Let them read the other posts about the Cowboys "Fuck em" or "where did Irvin's career end." They would probably say that those are pretty extreme comments, bordering on the psychotic.

Hey, in Dallas we have all kinds here. My neighbors are from Wisconsin (flies his Packer flag on Sundays), Arkansas, and Illinois. No one bothers my neighbor for flying his flag. Because you see, everyone moves down here. Not many Texans move to your area. And I'm sure I would be brought down a few notches if I ever flew a Cowboy flag in front of my residence. And that's probably an understatement.

26. Bushevik arrogance. Man, how ridiculous
Who started this flame thread? To equate football to political thought is sheer nuts. Man, don't ever equate Bush with me again.

You started this. You wanted this. You've got it. I hope you're choir boys do well for you. I'm sure when they attend church on Sunday, God will direct them to victory.

The truth does hurt. And here's the honest to God truth.

1. Philly obsesses about Dallas. To combat their obsessive dislike, they create excuses for the Cowboys' overall success rate over the Eagles. Those trophies mean nothing - THEY CHEATED.

2. Dallas has a winning record against Philly in both playoff games and regular season games.

3. Dallas has 5 superbowl trophies. Philly has none.

I'm sorry if the truth hurts. But apparently, it does.

And again you are putting words in my mouth. I never said Dallas teams weren't talented, nor that you didn't deserve much of what you'd won (just not ALL of it, particularly the 1995 Super Bowl).

Plus Dallas didn't cheat, the "old men in awe" did and so far as I know you didn't make them do that, although thanks to Irvin and his coke, whores, and dressing like a pimp for court certainly shook them from their trance.

Thanks again, Cokehead Irvin.

Finally, neither is it my nor your fault that Texas is the epicenter of Imperial Amerikan Fascism (or whatever you want to call the variety of Totalitarianism the Busheviks are leading to). Neither can I help but notice that Bushevik arrogance seems to go hand-in-hand with Cowboy Fan arrogance, that they are two feelings that come from the same family, so to speak.

I'm sure there are many nice people in Texas, as there are everywhere, but it is undeniable that the forces of Imperial Bushevik Aggression have found a home and capital there.

I'm sorry if the truth hurts. But apparently it does

Really, get help. Your intense feelings about the Cowboys go way deep. You have a definite hatred that goes far deeper than football. If it makes you feel any better, yes we all march lockstep behind our fuehrer, George W. Bush. We take pride in being the real capital of this fascist nation.

You still haven't answered my questions. Is it arrogant to point out that Dallas has won 5 superbowls? Is there anything untruthful about that statement?

I speak fact; you speak crazy, bizarre opinions. Really, work on your hatred.

With that, I am now leaving to pick up my children from school. You know, today's indoctrination lesson was on how to conquer the world and make friends while doing it. I'm sure my daughter made an A+.

Some are just never caught. Green Bay fans sure were the most moralizing fans on the universe at that time. When Chumura was arrested, there was this gasp from Wisconsin - "it can't happen to Green Bay. Our players are such positive role models." Of course, a Wisconsin jury would never find one of their own guilty. Kudos to the Dallas courts - Irvin was convicted of possession.

7. How about them?
After suffering through several losing seasons recently, noone (and I mean NOone) expected the Cowboys to go undefeated or, for that matter, to win more than they lost. Am I happy with their record this year? Hell yes! Parcells has done a decent job in bringing this team together and back on a winning track. A new QB (I'm not sure Quincy is the man for the job), a new RB, and a player here and there, and this team could be a dominate force in the NFC again.

That being said, the Eagles are on an awesome streak. Enjoy the ride.

Anyone who saw what Tuna did for the Rich Kotitie Jets...going from 1-15 to 9-7 without changing a single starter could see that he was going to do the same for Dallas.

Maybe you fellas arren't as knowledgable about football as you like to think, but up here in Philly we KNEW that as soon as Dallas got the Tuna that they were going to immediately and markedly improve.

I am still surprised, quite frankly. If they make the playoffs, I will consider it a minor miracle.

23. Ahem.
Well I guess since I only watch Dale Hansen every night and listen to The Ticket during my drive time (all of which thought we would go 7-9 at a MAXIMUM, if we were lucky) I guess I don't know much.

I remember listening to Dale before the season started, going game by game, and saying 5-11 was most likely and 7-9 if we got lucky. 8-8 would be a good result for Parcells' first season, but based on the strength of our schedule (this is pre-season, mind you) he didn't see it happening. No sportscaster that I'm aware of in the Dallas market said we would have a winning season in Parcell's first year. They may have started to rumble about it later in the season, but not going into the season.
