Can you forgive Canada...
...for Celine Dion? How about Lorne Greene? Are Loreena McKennitt and Joe Sakic enough to make up for those two?

4. Eh. Also gave us Dave Thomas,
Edited on Wed Dec-10-03 10:06 PM by nownow
Marty Short, Andrea Martin, Catherine O'Hara and the late, great John Candy. Oh, yeah -- and Paul Shaeffer. And that's just from one decade of one college in Ontario!

(Maple and I originally posted at the same time, and only repeated one, I think.)

13. I was standing waiting for the computer store to open with a chinese young
man who was also waiting. Fresh off the boat, so I asked him lots of questions. I didn't say this to him, but IMO there are hundreds of ethnic music styles that are lovely, but Chinese music so far is crap, like a cat getting his tail caught under the rocking chair. I asked what kind of music "they" are likeing now and he said the entire country was gaga over Celine Dion and the "life must go on" track. Very interesting...

20. Rush (the band) and Stevie Y go a long way toward making up
for Celine Dion. I never had a problem with Lorne Greene, he seemed like a harmless enough old man when I was a kid.
I have yet to forgive Canada for Claude Lemiux.

Unless you're talking about Unibroue and beers such as Le Fin du Monde and Don de Dieu, which are very good belgian-style stong golden ales.

28. Sorry to break it to you. She's really not that good as a singer
She has range, sure, but she totally over emotes and puts emphasis in the wrong place. She may be technically good, but she can't interpret a song at all.

30. Technically better for sure, but that's not what being a singer means.
Being a singer means being able to interpret a song, not just attempt vocal gymnastics. I can interpret a song better than Celine. I'd be willing to bet you could too.
