Am I the only one here who doesn't really celebrate Christmas?
Edited on Thu Dec-11-03 01:20 AM by Mountainman
My wife says to me, "We should really be celebrating the winter solstice."

We don't have kids so we aren't buying toys and we don't have any friends or relatives that will be coming over. We aren't invited to any parties. I'm unemployed and there isn't much money for Christmas shopping. It's seem kind of silly to decorate the house just for us.

I'm not religious so that's out.

Really there isn't much reason for us to celebrate Christmas. I'm not saying bah humbug. Just that I haven't any reason to celebrate Christmas.

1. That's depression.
Christmas, solstice ceremony or Christian centerpiece, is the triumph of life in the midst of winter death. You planning to make it till spring? Then celebrate!

Get some damn eggnog and go heavy on the nutmeg.

And do something for that lady in your house.

3. Word
A lot of people get down during the winter, specially farther north, and a little celebration, or a little alchohol, is a good thing, I think.

Course, I'm Catholic, so I have a hard time seeing winter w/o Christmas.

2. We a Jewish
But we have adopted a kid in Iraq. I have to go get her gift and get it on the way. But we don't decorate or celebrate Christmas.

Now the comment about depression do think about it.

4. It's not a religious holiday for me..
But it is for most the people around me... And I do enjoy giving gifts and the parties and whatnot.. I could do without the commercialism though... Seemed like we went directly from Halloween to Xmas and forgot Thanksgiving over here.
