I'll try to watch my wicked fingers, but I can't say that I'm going to stay on the straight and narrow way all the time.

I joined DU about the time I shook the dust of the big "Nut Chase" ISP from my sandals, where I learned the hard way that liberals, progressives, and moderates had to write like they were players in a Shirley Temple movie while Republicans and self-professed "conservatives" could comfortably stoop to any level of obscenity, blasphemy, or calumny without the board monitors doing so much as lifting a finger.

I have since learned that I find expressing my sentiments without resorting to the usual four-lettered Anglo-Saxon words is an interesting challenge, and can usually be done with a little bit of whit and imagination.

There are times when I need to curse. In a medium like writing, it can be hard to communicate emotions in a post, and sometimes swearing is necessary to express that emotion.

And this should come as no surprise -- but teenagers swear like sailors. I don't think they'd read anything here that they haven't said themselves.

I think swearing for the sake of swearing, or for the shock value, is not necessary. I just need to use it as a literary device from time to time.
