Man, I don't like this. I was admonished on DU yesterday to "watch what you say." (quotes mine). Sheesh...where have I heard THAT before? I got a PM saying I couldn't be trusted...I got a hate mail...what the hell party is this, anyway? For the first time in memory, I have TWO candidates I would actually happily vote for, with just about the same amount of reservations about each. When I asked DUers for real-person input to help me make my choice, I got locked down three times, and threatened for saying "inflammatory" things.

Well, the posts yesterday were very enlightening, but sure didn't make up my mind. So, until I have reason to do otherwise, I am supporting a Clark/Dean, Dean/Clark ticket in any form. Whatever. So there!

1. It is a sad state that I'm more wary of what I say....
On a DEMOCRATIC MESSAGE BOARD for heaven's sake, than I am in crowds of people with mixed political viewpoints. Honestly, there have been numerous times when I wanted to post a question or an opinion or just a general thought and stopped myself and said "watch what you say" because I didn't feel like dealing with all the hate and the flames from people who are so insecure in their own opinions that they have to whine when someone expresses a different one (accurate or not). And then they justify it as if they are crusaders for the truth or something.

It's a sad state of affairs.

4. Sorry to hear you got hate mail...I support ALL the Democratic
candidates and resolve to say only positive things about each and every one of them, and to slam only BFEE and Co. Inc and cronies.
We need to focus on beating up on Bush, not each other!

5. Stereotypes rule, though
The guy that e-mailed me...I just reminded him of our mutual right to express our opinions, and closed with "God bless America...now lets pray for the safe return of our country!"

He wrote back and apologized...he was talking about that "other guy" with all the liberal garbage! That WAS ME! LOL! But I guess because I said "God Bless..." he assumed I was a fellow righty. Jesus....ooops...there I go again.

We can't help the Repukes do there job by going after each other! I love what Dean says and think Clark as a better chance to pull in moderate Dems, Souther Dems and Bush hating Republicans...BUT I'LL VOTE FOR ANYONE BUT BUSH!

7. Follow-up
I think I was among the first to respond to your Clark v. Dean question and I tried to use the most neutral language possible for fear of flames etc. What followed seemed to me to be a debate that lacked a good deal of substance. I agree that we have a great field of candidates, probably the best I can remember (my political consciousness goes back to the Reagan-Carter election of 1980). I could vote for any in the Gen. Election. They all have a real fire and desire to be heard, and make their points. I am proud to see that.

I also think this board by its nature attracts activists for individual candidates. Some may even be paid (gasp) for these sorts of activities (SPECULATION ON MY PART THERE) to spin the debate for and against certain candidates. That saddens me. I think we need to have a fair and honest discussion amongst ourselves devoid of the spinners to allow ourselves to come to a rational decision, lest we revert back to the days of Democratic Machine politics and candidates decided by cigar chompers in a back room.

I would be very happy to discuss candidates off line with you or anyone else.

Best Regards,

10. Kick for the Mugwump
I was out all day, still haven't made up my mind! And I'll give it all the time I need, because the one thing I AM certain of is that one of these two men will get my vote, and George W. Bush will...well, he'll still attempt to steal the election via Diebold, but hopefully the polls by that point will be so lopsided that no one will fall for it!
