Guys-Can your wives/SOs go to a home sales party without buying something?

They could be selling glazed doorknobs or stuffed anacondas and my wife will come home with something. She always says, "I'm not going to buy anything, I'm just going because she's a friend." What's up with that?

2. I do this all the time

I'm invited to quite a few in-home demos of stuff, but I rarely buy anything. If I do, it's the cheapest thing. Last time I went to a Pampered Chef party I got a recipe booklet, and a pastry brush. I spent a grand total of 12 dollars.

Usually it's because I can find the same or similar product much cheaper somewhere else.

3. As a woman, I can report that you almost have to buy SOMETHING.

Since you're going into someone's home, you sort of feel obligated to buy. It's not anonymous, like walking into Target or the mall. But I don't typically go to those things, because I think the stuff is real expensive. And if I do go, I buy the cheapest possible thing.

The Fed should have an award, something like "The Fed Economic Medal of Freedom" for people like my wife who can seemingly single-handedly support the cinsumer side of the economy. She is spendakinetic. She can melt a cash card just by looking at it. Looking at our bank statement is like looking at the gas tank of a Hummer. It just drops like a rock.

She'll only buy if it's something she really wants/needs, and feels it isn't overpriced for the quality, she'll buy it.
