14. and even when they use "talking points"...
They are usually ducking the issue. It is used as a deflection device - to lob the ignored ball back into the other court. It settles nothing, and is the most abused and pretentious term on all of DU. :argh:

A typical exchange as follows:

ZW: "I disagree that Dean's economic plan can balance the budget within 4 years, because he will not reverse all of the Bush tax cuts, and not sufficiently reduce the amount of spending."

Deanie: "That's just a Rove-planted meme!! You're a troll!"

ZW: *sigh* Do you have an argument? Maybe I am wrong, and he will be able to procure enough revenue with his plan. Tell me how.

Deanie: "I am putting you on ignore! You meme meanie!"

:nuke:

7. ah, he's going for the exfoliate GOPisEvil meme
good money in that meme. Not to suggest that I support the "going-after-money" meme, nor even the "make-a-suggestion" meme. That's a meme that's truly outdated. Not to get bogged down in the "outdated" meme, of course, nor the "excessive-apologetic" meme.

6. I think Dean's meme hit the tipping point this weekend.
By createing synergies between the internet and his campaign, he has been able to define and implement the process of current state architecture. Now Dean will be able to facilitate and lead his strategy initiative and stick to his timelines.

All-in-all, this has been a high-profile roadmap.

9. And going forward, I see nothing but the continued
strategic implementation of his brand, and I predict he'll leverage it well in terms of maximizing his market share. He's done well to date, and I expect he'll continue trending toward greater market capitalization to the detriment of his competitors. He's truly better placed now for bringing his product before a much lerger segment of eyes. He's made his firing shot, his feet have met the pavement, and now he just has to keep running the race and he'll come out ahead. But if he falters or slips into his old paradigm, he'll be dead on the sidewalk.

16. I am curious as to your opinion about the high-level approach
that the Dean campaign uses to create a knowledge transfer to distinguish product, customer segment, and functional mapping. Can they re-tool if the campaign hits a pain-point...such as an annualized voluntary turnover?

So far Dean has been able to navigate successfully by leverageing employees to focus on the initiative. From what I understand, the manager committees drill down into lower levels the importance of understanding the ramifications of turning negative spin into lemonade.

That's right on-target in my book.

25. I got a BS in Telecommunications Management.
What that means is that I was trained to be a media exec. Media-execs have the "Corporate-Speak" crap down cold. (Mainly because they have no real marketable skills, so they over-compensate by mastering whatever management buzzwords are popular at the time.)

After college, I worked as a national media-rep for a large Advertising firm. I would literally read, edit and compose crap like that all the time. At the end of the day I would be physically ill.

I quit and became a traveling poet. (Seriously.) Today I'm a bum and wanna-be writer who can't write worth shit.

18. The word was coined by Richard Dawkins over 20 years ago
a "meme" is a little piece of culture or an idea or set of idees that can copy itself and "reproduce" in the collection of behaviors, ideas, etc., that make up our culture. It's the cultural equivalent of a gene in a genome.

Like when people write ect. instead of etc. - and someone else sees ect. and they think it is proper, and they use it.

A meme certainly doesn't have to be a fact. All it has to do to be "succesful" is to get itself copied. "Al Gore invented the internet" is a very succesful meme.

19. In other words, bullshit
Richard Dawkins was ok in Hogan's Heros, but he sucked in Family Feud. Leave it to that loser to coin a useless term that pseudo-intellectuals love to embrace.

"Al Gore invented the internet" - that is what is known as a rumor.

23. my sister says that some who take the rhetoric class
may underestimate how genuinely painful this option may prove. As a former rhetoric Grad student, she knows what this is like. I should have known Richard Dawkins was behind this.
