I am having horrible trouble trying to get my emails off of the computer at college. They are on MSN.

3. Could Your College's Subnet Be Blackholed? |
|
Your college subnet (the space of IP addresses that make up your college's internet presence) may be banned by AOL for spam.
This happened to my school a couple of months ago. Since I worked in Information Security I got the inside track on what was happening. Basically AOL (and other ISPs) will block all inbound traffic from certain subnets where there is a high volume of spam originating that is destined for AOL addresses.
We had to wrangle with AOL over this matter for a couple of days until we finally convinced them that we would take steps to shut down open mail relays (the software by which spammers can pseudo-anonymously send spam) at our school.
Could be something more basic that this that's causing your problem, but I'd check with your computing services help desk office or group regarding this. If my scenario is the cause of your problem, you're probably going to be out of luck for a while...at least if you can only access your AOL account from your campus.

You can use something like outlook to route all of you email into one inbox. You just have to know the server numbers of the school you go to. I'm sure you have some sort of tech support on campus- just call them up and they should be able to hook you up so you can get all your mail.
