Could someone please explain
the hero worship of Ronnie Raygun? I had a repuke go off on me when I said that he should be either on a half-penny or on no-sense, which is what he had a lot of. The guy took a freaking nutty and called me every name in the book, including that I was emotionally dependent. What an ass!!

So what's the story? Is Ronnie the second coming of our lord, or something? Where does a repuke get off on saying that Raygun was a "better" president that William Clinton? Or any other Democratic president in the last 45 years? Personally, I think Ronnie had Alzheimer's even before he went into the white house, and I certainly can't see where he was the best thing to happen to this country--by any stretch of the imagination! I would even go so far as to say that Nixon was a better president than Raygun, and we all know what kind of president Nixon was!!!

Why can't the repukes see that their choices for the white house have all been criminals or worse? Completely unintelligible for the most part, though cunning with criminal minds!

I've left the board that was calling me names--too many pukes there, with nothing but a**holes calling the shots. There were some diehard liberals there, but not enough to influence the freepers who ran the board and know how to call people names better.

Personally, I think I'm in better company here. :)

1. People just like some people
I think Nancy showed real class in stating she did not want to take fdr off the dime and told the people pushing that to stop. Maybe it is class. Tip O'Neil loved Regean and use to go over to the white house after a big fight with him in congress and play poker with him. We need more of that.

Might tell you something more about him.

4. The RW worship of him is obvious. But the apolitical middle
just LOVED him!!! Kind old grandfatherly figure!! A REAL American HERO!!! (not!) Etc etc etc.

Yes, he probably cut out or damaged many programs these people enjoyed, or depended on, but SO WHAT??? They LIKED him!!! Go figure.

8. Sam Donaldson did a perfect analogy on Ronnie:
This was on 20/20, I think.

"Reagan is a friendly man, who would give you the shirt off is back if you had none of your own. While you are trying on the shirt, he will cheerfully (and unknowingly) sign away your benefits to entitlements and other gov programs, that you might totally depend on."

I think that was about right.
