Something I've been wondering
I've been a poster here at DU for four months now. And there's something I've really been wondering. Maybe you can help me out.

Question is: What the heck is a 'cthulhu'?

and will find a wealth of material.

Cthulhu is an elder God, of the non-euclidean city R'Yleth (and I've spelled that wrong, please note), who is awaiting the day when he will return and drive humanity insane.

opbviously, there's much more to it.

Cthulhu is a creation of the genius mind of HP Lovecraft who, though he wrote for pulp magazines way back when, was a brilliant man. Go to amazon - or better yet, go to your bookstore - and get the books of Lovecraft.

For my money, some of the most exciting and amazing writing ever done. Is it high literature? No, not quite, but it's insulting to him to call him a "horror" writer, though he was. I really like him, and his stories are almost all about people going insance because of their encounters with the elder gods. And most of those people are in Rhode Island and other new england areas.

Just read him. Then you'll understand.

There are very few (probably less than ten) musicians and writers I'm actually avenagelical about, and Lovecraft is one of them.
