Raining like crazy in Phoenix....
unusual, strange, welcome....

I once worked with an Italian guy (from Italy) who was so proud of himself when he could say:

Billie,it's raining like a cow pissinonaflatrock.

4. you get acclimated
Since you're from Seattle, I will share this with you...

I moved there 15 years ago, from the east coast, where it could get hot and humid. So when it hit 75 in Seattle, people would COMPLAIN it was "hot", and go around naked. Moan and complain like you wouldn't believe! Softies.

Fast forward to 1995, when it hit 100 in Seattle for the first time in its history. GET THE FAN!! WHERE'S THE COLD WATER?? I found myself saying it was hot before it even hit 80. Bad thing about it getting to 80, 90, or more there is most places (including mine) didn't have AC. I became a Seattleite when I wore shorts at 60 degrees, lol.

So yeah, people DO get used to the weather where they're at. You're a Phonecian if you think 65 is cold! :D

7. You're right about that!
I remember the first winter I was here. I teased and ridiculed my co-workers for being such wusses. Now I'm a wuss, too. Sigh.

3. You're getting what we got
In Vegas earlier today. Nothing like a 20-minute commute turned into a 60 minute marathon. I have a Saturn 3-door coupe and was blowing by all the these SUVs, travelling at an incredible 40 MPH. It wasn't even raining hard!

8. My sister's in Vegas and said it was nasty....
She has a van and had to deal with traffic. I have a Saturn also... and they're great in rain and snow. 3 door coupes are cute... I have the 4-door old lady sedan. Boring.

13. I traded my sedan for it
It's a great little car for me.

It was raining pretty hard in the early afternoon, but by 4:30 it was dripping. I live & work on the west side of town, so it's possible that it was raining hard by her and it was fine by me.

Then again, I'm from the east coast, so until I see the monsoon drops, it's all a little drizzle :-)

5. Up here in Saskatchewan it's currently -26C
with a windchill of -40c. That's about where fahrenheit and celsius are equal. Plug in your car tonight or she won't start tommorow.

9. Yeah,I'm a Canucklehead.
Love hockey, beer, women in parkas (that's a joke) etc. Being here on DU I can see that there is no difference between the people of our countries, just the governments. I don't really know any Americans in the real world,I have met some on my trips down there. The Americans that come to Saskatchewan are the rich hunters, people I have no interest in meeting. The DUers I meet here are a pretty neat bunch.

11. We like the DU Canucks, too.
Here in Mesa, we have a number of snow birds with Saskatchewan plates. Wish you'd teach them how to freakin' drive! Only thing worse are the Manitobans! Or maybe the Iowans, AKA "Idiots Out Wandering Around."

14. Yeah a lot of folks head south for the winter, that's for sure.
With our loonie doing so poorly compared to your dollar it is an expensive thing to do though.

15. I can imagine it must be expensive.
At least they don't have to pay for heating fuel here, or at least not much.

16. Well we got an abundance of oil and natural gas up here.
So keeping the pad warm isn't expensive. Don't tell your president about the oil and gas thing,he might come and liberate me.

17. president? he is a disgrace.
I know how you're talking about, but I can't bring myself to call him "president." He's the pretender, the ultimate moran, the chimp, the idiot. But Bill Clinton was the last president. We don't have one now --- just a pretender.

18. Bill Clinton was a good man, with a good heart.
He was also intelligent and he would have been a Great President if the rightwing dunderheads didn't try to destroy him the day he took office. Sure he had failings, but he who is without sin can cast the first stone. But his failings were at a personal level. Bush's failings are greed, arrogance, hubris, and not one sniff of compassion. We loved Bill up here.

10. We had a nice rainy day in the California desert
Lots of wind from the west and a light rain, just enough moisture so it doesn't blow sand around.

12. It is kind of nice now and then...
It's kind of weird to actually look forward to it rather than dread it.
