who is gonna win Survivor
and does anyone on here care? I most admit that I am addict and almost stopped watching it after Rupert was voted off. But I was definitely rewarded tonight.

1. I think Darrah should win
I'll be happy as long as Jon wins. However, I think Darrah and Sandra are the most deserving.

there hasn't been anyone like her on survivor, plus she just does not give a Fu$k! You gotta love her. Dara is cool too, but Lill is stupid!!!! But I am glad she stuck with the girls.

8. I just realized I made a mistake
I don't want that bastard Jon to win. I hate him more than any Survivor in history.

I meant to say that I'd be happy as long as John doesn't win.

What about Ghandia? Could you possibly hate him more than her?

20. Well, I think Jon is more unlikeable than Ghandia
The whole Ghandia/Ted thing was kind of distasteful and embarassing.

JON, on the other hand, turns my stomach. Smarmy, slimey, arrogant, too sure of himself. I was disgusted about how he lied about his grandmother dying. There was no real benefit to him doing that (except for the sympathy factor; worked for Jenna in the Amazon). He sucks at the challenges usually, too. I LOVED the look on his face when Burton got voted out last night.

Lil is a bit clueless. I'm rooting for Sandra at this point.

28. A couple of things to consider
Jon hasn't done anything to hurt anyone outside the game; Ghandia's actions hurt people's marriages.

Jon may not do well in challenges, but Ghandia cost her tribe challenges; once she was booted, a Sook Jai was kicked off 7 straight times, a record still untouched.

The lie about his grandmother had a huge benefit that went far beyond mere sympathy. Notice how he doesn't play the "Johnny Fairplay" character at tribal council anymore? He doesn't saunter up to vote, strutting around, acting like a cocky fool?

It's all part of the act. He's from a pro-wrestling background. He's established a story arc. He started off as a heel, a bad guy; once his grandmother died, he started to become someone much nicer and more trustworthy (at least, to the other Survivors). No, he hasn't convinced anyone he's a whole new person, but he's sewn confusion, and managed to keep himself totally safe from votes into F4 in part because of it.

The look I saw on his face was simply a person who has several backup plans taking stock and deciding which ones to put into play. He has F2 alliances with Darrah and Lil and, quite probably, with Sandra. Notice that, no matter how much he and Sandra pretend to hate each other, neither of them ever seems to propose the other for booting that week? Amazing, isn't it?

I am hearing that they are doing a "Survivor" All-Stars next year. Rupert is definitely a classic Survivor contestant, and they would be silly not to invite him back.

11. Good news!
You know how the outcasts go on Letterman the week that they lose on the viewing of the show? Well Letterman said that Rupert wouldn't be appearing because he was participating in the all star that was being taped at that time. So it is definite.

As for me, I quit watching when Rupert got kicked off. I believe in the best person winning these things and not the weasles like Jon. I see too many weasels winning too much in real life. (I'm sure you know what I mean). ;)

21. Brian, the winner from Thailand
has a weekly article in the National Enquiror about Survivor. This week he talked about the All Star Survivor. Rupert is on it, along with Richard, Rudy and Susan from the first; Ethan, the winner from Africa (the WORST version of Survivor in my opinion); Colby and Jerry from Australia.

This one is going to be good. I did not watch the first Survivor, except for the last 15 minutes of the final to see who won, after all the hype. Wish I had. Richard Hatch set the standard of how to play this game, and it will be interesting to see how he does this time.

22. All Star Survivor will be fun to watch, however, I would
really like to see a Survivor show that has the most despised players on it. People like the current Jon, Jeri and some of the others that none of the other contestants liked. It would be interesting to see how they interact with all the other "low-life" contestants.

Frankly, I'm just happy that the women pulled their heads out of the sand and voted together. I would be happy if Sandra or Darrah won. Jon is pond scum and Lill is an outcast.

I think that Jon could never win. Rupert, Darrah, Ryan O, and Tijuana won't vote for him. Any of the women could beat him and I hope that they do.

I suspect they might actually try to keep Jon around. He'd probably be easier to beat than Lil or any of the other girls.

I cannot imagine what will happen if he wins. At the reunion, everybody will probably be upset over his scandalous lie.

Jon would probably get Burton's vote, but not many more.

It was a brilliant lie, and a fantastic bit of gameplay. I still don't understand why it's got everyone so upset.

6. My dream scenario-
Jon ends up in the final two, makes an impassioned plea to the jury that includes his "dead granny", and enough people are taken in that they vote him the winner-
AND- I further hope that when they showed it on the show before thanksgiving- that it was the first that any of the other survivors knew that he had lied about grandma--AFTER they have already cast votes for him.
now That would be a final show worth watching

12. Jon
One of the best players in Survivor history.

Think about it. Jon was facing three voting blocs: Three Drakes, 4 Morgans, and the 2 outcasts. Since the merge, each bloc has been whittled down, and he is now facing the weakest member of each bloc, Sandra, Darrah, and Lil.

Granted, tonight was a surprise, but notice one more thing.

As much as Jon and Sandra talk about hating each other, how is it that they never once have put the other on the chopping block? Never. Everything they do has seemed designed to get them to this point.

They could well have the best and most secret alliance we've ever seen.

BTW, we're only a few weeks from Survivor: All Star, with the return of Rupert, on February 1, immediately after the Super Bowl.

56. Jon will be one of the best when/if he actually wins.
You've made some great food for thought points on Jon in this thread.

BUT - if all of Jon's deceipt which you call brilliant strategy ends up being what loses the game for him - it's nothing more than a pile of Limbaugh crap that isn't high enough to climb to get him out of a hole, while the winner built herself a sturdy ladder. (what a damn clumsy analogy that was)

I just don't think that the game should be able to be won on deceipt alone. And if it turns out that Sandra and Jon had some deal going, I hope Darrah wins - she showed her superior skill at the game in the challenges, and Sandra never fessed up about the bucket of fish.

We'll see... :)

57. What skill at challenges?
Let's analyse Darrah's amazing challenge skill:

She won a bizarre word scramble game with some truly weird rules.

She won a shooting contest that seemed, to be honest, fairly random, but still, good for her.

She won a physical challenge because her wrist is half the size of a normal human's, and at that, Jon was right behind her, and Burton was actually darned close.

Granted, Darrah's done a nice job, but people are starting to think of her as a female Colby or something lately. :D

The two most likely challenges left are Fallen Comrades and an endurance challenge of some kind.

Jon is toast in the endurance challenge, most likely. Women virtually always win it. As a matter of fact, Brian is the only man I can think of to win one, and that was a very short one. Granted, we've had men drop off before, so that's not always a track record one can go by (Rich, Rob C). Darrah could be in good shape, but we've seen that illness or other things can affect this challenge (witness Lex in S3, who managed to last several hours despite having been up all night with dysentery).

And I'm convinced Sandra is sandbagging the challenges. Remember how one of the earliest "fights" she and Jon had was over which of them was the better swimmer? But suddenly, she sucks at swimming?

As for Fallen Comrades, who knows? Darrah lays around camp all the time, so she might have been absorbing "useless" trivia; otoh, Jon has been scheming his weasel ass off, so he's had to learn a lot about his fellow tribe mates.

Sandra has made a critical error: from what I've seen in the post-boot chats, people didn't realise how much Sandra was playing the game. She may have been too under the radar with some of this stuff to get votes.

One other thing, and this is a wee bit of a spoiler, so I'll change the font to white. Not too bad a spoiler, and certainly not anything to do with who won, but some people don't want any advanced info at all. This is from a Jeff Probst interview, IIRC. Just highlight the following blank area to read:

We've been told that this is the most contentious final Tribal Council ever, with 5, count 'em, FIVE Sue Hawk style speeches. The only combination I can think of that would produce that kind of vehemence is Jon/Lil.

Damn, I spend too much time on this show. For more fun and analysis, stop by alt.tv.survivor. We average over 3,000 posts a week, and a great deal of them are actually about the show, even.

What I thought was funny about last nights show was at the end when Burton was giving his final thoughts and he said "Lil, I hope you can live with yourself" !!! WTF??
He just got done putting her on the chopping block, but when it didnt work out the way he had planned, he acted all offended to find out she put him on the block.....I laughed my ass off.

I have been beating myself up over the fact that I can't NOT watch this stupid show. I hate the fact that the weasely, arrogant, lying, chauvinistic Jonny Fairplay (forgive me while I barf) lives to play another day. If he wins it just reinforces poor performance. It says you can be a winner if you lie and cheat.

24. Anyone But Jon!
Jon is the George W. Bush of survivor: a cocky, arrogant, undeserving weasel.

I'm glad the women finally got a clue and banded together. The looks on everyones faces during Tribal Council were proceless... Sandra rolling her eyes, Rupert, Christa and Ryan(?) celebrating when Burton got the boot. This show is my TV "guilty pleasure".

I say Sandra and Jon for the final 2 and Sandra wins because Jon is a weasel, but of course much will ride on who gets immunity.

It is my guilty pleasure tv show.

I am going for Sandra although I don't think she will win.

I know everyone hates John but I wouldn't count him out just yet. He is a sneaky little bastard and Lill is playing up her naivete. I think she will join forces with him against the other girls. She knows everyone hates him. He would be best to be in the final two with.

My prediction: Lill joins forces with John. They go to final two. Lill wins.

30. Actually
All the postgame chats I've read have the Survivors saying that Jon isn't that bad a person in real life, that he's playing it up for the cameras.

Remember, a great deal of the stuff that we hate about him is from his confessionals, which nobody else on the island see.

As for being hated, I can't think of a single person in F2 who lost because they were a jerk unless there was another reason to lose as well. Schemers always win, regardless. Rich from the first season was supposed to lose because everyone hated him. Brian was supposed to lose because he had betrayed everyone, so they hated him. Didn't happen.

Heck, Tina betrayed more people than Colby, but she won. Vecepia betrayed more people than Neleh, but she won. Jenna was a snotty brat nobody could stand, but she won.

Ethan's the only person who won overwhelmingly, but his opponent not only was a disliked, she hadn't done anything to make F4, merely riding her alliance's coattails.

If Jon makes it to F2, he wins.

31. Yeah, you really have to factor in the Jon card
You know that Rupert & Christa won't vote for Jon
Probably Tijuana and Ryan won't vote for Jon
Burton will vote for Jon

But let's make it 3-2 against Jon thinking that possibly T or Ryan might vote for the guy.

Now if you bring Jon into the final 2, you know you've got at least 2 votes for you and definately 1 against you. But what about the other 2 gals that you teamed up with swearing that all 3 gals would be the top 3 in Survivor.

If it's Lil vs. Jon: Lil would win. She's probably get all the votes except Burton. But lets face it - Lil won't win any immunities and no one will pick her into the final 2 because she's so likeable..

If it's Darrah vs. Jon: Darrah would win. Again, she'd get all the votes except Burton and possibly Lil since Lil would think that Darrah broke the pact the 3 gals made last night

But....

If it's Sandra vs. Jon: That could be a toss up. Sandra would definately get Rupert & Christa. Jon would definately get Burton, but the other 5 would be totally up in the air. Remember, Sandra has her own issues and if she took Jon into the final 2, she'd probably risk losing Darrah and Lil's vote.

Typical Survivor Challenges for the last 2 will be a quiz about the Survivors who have been voted out and some sort of endurance (Stand on one foot or something like that). The only challenge I can see Lil winning is possibly the quiz since she probably took the time to get to know everyone, but that usually ISN't the last challenge. Darrah will win the endurance one hands down, Lil's body won't hold out that long in anything endurance.

I think it'll be Darrah. But if Lil or Sandra can pull off the next challenge (which will probably be the castaway quiz), they'd be smart to get rid of Darrah since she'll probably win the endurance challenge. If Darrah gets voted out in the next challenge, then Jon will probably win the endurance challenge and will have to take Sandra into the final 2 (since no one can beat lil)

I like Lil the best but the other 3 knows that Lil is almost sure money if you take her into the final 2. And nobody wants to be another Colby (Survivor #2 where he took nice tina instead of the other guy Keith - who was kinda an asshole).

This has to be the best survivor in a long time. The last 3 were just ok (remember the year with all the holy rollers on it - I could barely stomach my way through that show).

I'm betting Darrah - but not 100%

34. I disagree with the preception of Lill
Yes she whines. Yes she has performed poorly. But something in me thinks she is faking it. Either that or she isn't a boy scout. She was having trouble finding the coordinates using the directions given her. What kind of boy scout can't do that?

How about one who wants to look like she doesn't know what she is doing. People will like her and try to bring her close to the final 2. Of course, no one wants to go against her in the final 2 (except maybe Jon).

Darra and Sanda will plot to get Jon next and then Lill since they can't beat her in the final 2. Jon will plot with Lill telling her exactly that is exactly what they want to do to her. He will tell her he will bring her into the final 2.

I think Lill though has a plan too. I think she has only been acting and will do much better in the end. She only pretends to be so caring so people will like her. I think she will win the immunity in the end forcing her into the final 2. She will take Jon with her by siding with him. She wins the money.

36. She'll win immunity only if it's the castaway quiz
I don't care how much Lil is faking it, she will not outlast anyone if the final challenge is an endurance one.

If you go through the history of Survivor Challenges, the trend for the last 2 is the Quiz (about the other castaways - how much did you learn about them) and some type of endurance where the survivors have stood for hours trying to win that final immunity. Usually it's the Quiz first and the Endurance one as the final one.

There is no way that Lil will be able to outlast Darrah or Jon in a test of endurance. I'm even doubting she could outlast Sandra. The only immunity that Lil could possibly win is the quiz about the other castaways, but that'll be the next to last one.

Lil could be faking it, but why take the change. There is no way any of the other 3 would take Lil in with them for the final 2. It's just not worth the risk.

As for Jon, the ONLY way he would have any chance to win the money would be against Sandra since Sandra has pissed off some folks along the way.

How many times have we heard that over the years, only to find out it wasn't true?

Rich was a guaranteed loser. So was Lex, but we found out afterwards he was a lock to win, even over Ethan, had he won the final challenge. People thought Jenna was too much of a brat, Brian too sleazy.

Jon's a lock to win this thing. If you've been reading the chats the survivors have on CBS after they're booted, they all have great things to say about Jon, how he's such a great guy who's just playing up to the cameras.

Surely someone else out there can give Fairplay some love? :D

It's good to see the "Survivor" fans coming out of the closet at DU.

Anyway, I was really glad to see Burton go last night. You know, physically, Burton is probably my ideal man but I just couldn't stand him. I'm rooting for Sandra to win. I'd love to see Jon get taken to the final three and then dumped. And finally, has anyone else noticed that no one brings back food from the reward challenge feasts anymore? Very sexy man. I have to say he certainly sets my gaydar off with that body, voice, living in San Fran, and that his mother was his loved one in that reward challenge.

This Survivor had a couple of hotties. Andrew looked great, although not so much after losing weight. Ryan O., Sean, Osten, even Rupert, a total bear.

Burton didn't set my gaydar off at all. I perceived him to be 110% straight. I, sadly, found him to be less and less sexy the more he talked. The guy's a complete asshole. Osten was also a very beautiful man but for all his brawn he was a complete wimp and a whiner. Skinny Ryan was very cute in his way and seemed to be a really nice guy. I thought his relationship with Lill was really touching.

49. There was another "Survivor" thread...
...last week I think in which someone said that the place in Virginia where Jon is from (Danville) is just full of strange people. Isn't Virginia a fairly conservative state to begin with? Throw in "strangeness" too and I guess Jon is what we get.

41. I loved Osten.
At first I wanted to him to win (because he was HOT), but he got on my nerves with his whining. "I'm gonna drown" and "I am getting pneumonia" Blah!

54. did you see his Early Show appearance?
A woman called in, asked if he thought he'd be able to get dates after saying such bad stuff about women.

He just smirked and said he wasn't worried about dates.

Heh, heh, heh....

37. I Hope It's Sandra
I loved that she was gonna get back at the guys by hiding the pick axe, knives, etc. She's got spunk! No one has done something like that yet! ;)

Also, I don't really get why the women felt the need to be secretive about their votes. If they just came out and said "hey jon & burton, you tools. we're voting for which ever one of you doesn't get immunity. if one of us wins immunity burton is out." it's not like the two guys could have done anything about it. I guess the only plus for the gals being secret is the pure joy of knowing it blindsided jon & burton. hmmmm.. I guess that was worth it. ;)

39. If they had told Jon and Burton
Then that would have given Burton time to work over Lil and make her feel guilty about betraying him.

It was probably the wise thing to not say a word - also, the reactions of Burton and Jon were priceless.

44. I loved how Burton blinked...
...real slow after his name was pulled out a second time. I would love to see that in slow motion. I bet it would look as though he were about to pass out. And man, taking that walk of shame a SECOND time must have been a bitch.

47. Anyone but Lil
She is absolutely repulsive. Pouty, whiny, weak, no sense of humor. A walking pile of shit.

I will be pissed if she wins.

I find myself saying in a loud voice: "She is a disgrace to the Scouts!"

Especially after that compass challenge. How embarrassing!

Not that Lil is an actual woman. More of a frog-faced freak.

50. why do people think that Lil can't be beat in the final 2?
If you had to convince the jury to vote for you over Lil, point out and play up the fact that she was allowed to come back after being voted out originally. Most of the players, and a lot of viewers were pissed off by that manuever on the part of the producers- I doubt that it will be repeated in future "Survivor"'s.

51. Good point
I personally would not like to see an "outcast" win. I wasn't rooting for Burton either. Besides, I don't think Lill should be rewarded for subjecting us to her sour face for all these weeks.

55. I think Sandra
Is trying to pull a Jedi Mind Trick on everybody with the Lil talk. Notice how she's always talking up Lil at Tribal Council? She's setting Lil up for the boot at F4.

And don't forget it's Sunday night, folks.

58. will win?
Oh that's right, "Jon is a lock to win this thing".

Hehe. :)

GetSome!!!!!! (spoken like John Henson the ex-Talk Soup host)

I think that as Survivor evolves(and big brother), the contestants will put more and more value on being a Quality Person.
I hope so anyway. It sucks when assholes win.

60. Okay, okay
He was a lock to win if LIL HADN'T BEEN A COMPLETE DUMBASS!!!!

Sorry. I just hate her so much.

Jon worked his butt off to make himself the perfect F2 opponent, and he would have been selected by virtually every other person ever to play the game.

But not Lil. Sheesh. She couldn't even be honest at the end. Claimed to make the decision based on who she could be beat, but then took Sandra because she didn't like Jon.

Gah.

Rumour now is that Jon is on ASS. I hope so.

62. If Jon is on ASS
I guess that would be good at least because it's entertaining to watch a quantity of character, never mind the quality of character.

I don't think Lil ever gained the honest trust of any of the players, imo. (tijuana I can't explain, and I reserve the right to say she wasn't a player) Jon is only one among the gullible multitudes...

63. Tijuana
That vote just mystifies me. Maybe she needed to have pointed out to her by Sandra that Sandra's the one who did all the scheming. And, of course, she didn't see that the whole reason Darrah was voted off was because Jon brought it about, not Lil.

Ah, well. Jon played a good game, and was actually quite gracious in defeat.
