Who has a belief absolutely no-one else shares.
Edited on Fri Dec-12-03 04:09 PM by Screaming Lord Byron
I have a theory that whatever you say, no matter how unusual, there will be someone else on DU who agrees. So, let's try to disprove this theory. I want to find someone who is completely alone in a belief.

I don't like the Grateful Dead. Anyone else?

On edit - Can't stand the Matrix movies much either.

117. But if "WASP" refers to Anglo-Saxons...
...and the belief of the Worldwide Church of God (that the British are the Lost Tribe of Israel -- I'm not making this up) is true, then WASPS are Jews! So, that means they're to blame anyway.

;-)

(But would that mean that anyone who opposes Bush can be labeled an "anti-Semite?")

9. I don't like the Grateful Dead
I can cope with their musical style. Others have done it better. I just wish they'd learn how to tune.

My turn.

All psychic events are synchronistic. This synchronicity has nothing to do with the quantum mechanics term of the same name. It occurs on a data layer.

133. In My Opinion, The List Would Be Too Long To Post Here
By decade, i could list at least 20 better bands. They're tedious, overwrought, and other than the original keyboardist, none of them were very good players. The "jams" are overly loose and usually sound like nobody is listening to anyone else, which means the jams aren't organic arrangements that take different avenues and set different moods. Rather, than became meandering, formless, shapeless models of mush.

Since there have been other jam bands, and other bands that didn't make a living on it but sure could do it, the list of bands that did it better would be hundreds long.

60. It will!!
And it will actually be a spaaceship that shape-changing space dragons used to get to Earth, carrying colonies of proto-human servants and a large number of ratlike creatures. Some very bad guys will try to steal it for themselves, but a team comprised of a crazy blind mage, a rat shaman, a clone, and a cyberzombie will help the Children of Einstein (human who moved to Mars in the 1940s) save it! This will happen in 2063.

I know this because it's exactly what happened in our last Shadowrun game. Freaky, huh?

84. We are all ALIENS!
We are so technically and scientifically advanced that our life became infinitely boring; nothing new to learn, nothing new to do.

So we invented a total-immersion virtual reality video game called "Earthlife" and when we jack into the game we forget who we really are for the duration of the game, and role-play at being members of a mythical race of beings called "humans". And when we "die", as a human character, we "wake up" back in our real reality and realize who we actually are and that it was all just a game.

Then, after a break to hang out with our friends, we dive back into the game to role-play another human character for 80 or 100 years or so. (Which is the blink of an eye to immortal aliens like us.)

130. The Poles fought well in WWII
The whole charging tanks with horses and lances thing is pure bullshit.

They inflicted more casualties on the Nazis than all of the Scandavian countries combined.

They fought longer than most of the other invaded nations.

The Polish pilots were instrumental in the Battles of Britian and they were betrayed in post-war period.

I am not BTW polish at all.

However, these are provable facts.

The Poles were occupied first by the Germans and then the Soviets. Both talk crap about their performance during the war. Occupied people always get the short stick.

Nasty stuff.

The Poles by the Brit's own admittance were instrumental in the Battle of Britian.

There is a statue somewhere in Britian. A friend that I knew (from Manchester) had a dad who fought or flew beside them. Something about them saving his life or being his big friend. Anyway, they would also stop at this statue beside the highway to pay tribute to these guys.

I agree with you original statement, too! That was a tougher fight for the Nazi's than they got out of Norway or France.

It wasn't Britain or the Soviets, but it wasn't that easy. Our own forces, in Iraq, both times, made the Poland/Nazi confrontation look like the Hunrded Years War by comparison.

And, yeah the truth matters. To me, history is supposed to be what actually happened.

147. I don't like Prince.
Never did. I think his famous "musicianship" is overrated, his deliberate misspellings annoying, His songwriting weak, and frankly I hold him personally responsible for that horrid shitty "synth"-like drum sound we had to suffer through all through the 80's. Listen to most pop music before "1999" and "Purple Rain" and you'll hear full-bodied, breathy, natural drum sound...then compare it to Prince's brittle, artificial drums on "When Doves Cry..." Terrible. IMHO, the guy is all image, barely any talent. He's a sad cartoon.

Prince's true legacy will be that of introducing the very worst production aspects of the "New Wave" (tinny drums, dinky synth parts, pinched sound overall) to the Pop Mainstream, giving it an R&B slickness, and destroying the sound of Rock in the Mainstream throughout the 80's, or, at least giving Rock an innappropriate chrome sheen it did not warrant. He gave critical and commercial crediblity to SynthPop, for which I cannot forgive him.

I never liked that dude.

They've dropped the requirement to a miserable FIVE words per minute ( I tested at TWENTY!) and the bands already sound like a virtual "Green Room" for the Gush Pfleghmball show.

When they do away with Morse in toto, as is expected by 2005, I predict that the Amateur airwaves will make CB of the 70's sound civilized.
