2. Agreed.
They also own "The Race is On" despite George Jones' best efforts, and I waver between awarding the Dead or Dylan ownership of "Quinn the Eskimo."

and watching "anthem to beauty" brings many a misty tear to my eyes.

jerry's voice was so sweet then, and listening to robert hunter talk about how he wrote those songs in england with a fine bottle of wine is almost wistful.

"there is a fountain that was not made by the hands of men"..... chilling verse.

i still have a big pix of jerry on my frig.

rememeber what bill graham said, " if you want to know who the best band is look at what it does to the audience"

17. 1972...a good year,
My 1st Dead concert in Boston. NRPS started at 6:30...Dead shut it down at 2:00AM.

My 1st psychedelic experience. Can you imagine walking around Boston, asking for directions, promptly forgeting 2 minutes later?

18. Sweet...
The Dead were at their most telepathic that year. Every tape I have from 72 is just insanely tight. And Phil is on fire the whole year- he got the fattest tone EVER in 72.

19. You'll be happy to know.
I saw the Dead play at Clark University/Worcester 3 days later...with the NRPS. If I recall, J. Geils MC'd it ( Iwas going to school in Worcester at the time (NB - I also saw this ugly bar band, Aerosmith, playing at Sir Morgans Cove, IIRC)
That was better than than Gardens. They had kegs of beer on the srage and you good walk up and partake. Maybe 3000 people there. It was exquisite....
