Hi everybody. Could you please send me some good vibes or
whatever you've got? My house is showing tomorrow and it's been a hard sell thus far. I've got to sign off now to do some cleaning, but I'd appreciate your positive thoughts/prayers/vibes. Thank you! I'm rather desperate at this point!

It's very hard living with my husband under the present circumstances, and selling the house would allow us both to move forward.

8. Something you can do.
A visualization for what you want. Should take only a minute or two to do. See your house with everything in it, even you, with a cocoon around it. Ask with confidence for what you want and put that request into the image. Fill the cocoon with gentle light, the first color that comes to mind, before you put any time to thinking about it; inside and out. Ask your favorite deity(ies) to bless your house and requests. They will.

15. I will do exactly as you recommend.
Last time we had to sell, we buried a plastic statue of St. Joseph, upside down, in the front garden. It was advice from my Catholic MIL. The house took TWO YEARS to sell. I'm hoping your suggestion bears faster fruit.

All the best to you. :) For best results, practice letting go of expectations and attachments. That gets it off of you so others can work (it) for you.

19. That means all my realtor friends hire me to detail their listings
Edited on Thu Jul-06-06 09:07 PM by sfexpat2000
to seduce the eyes of the lookers.

For example, the last place I did was small. So, I had to paint a bunch of wall white and put up a bunch of mirrors and every object inside pointed to a window -- to compensate for the size of the space (in overpriced Silicon Valley).

It's like fixing your friend's make up, only on a whole property. lol

24. This is a massive house built in 1883. It has seven bedrooms!
On the one hand, we don't want to touch what's original. On the other hand, there's so much that could be done and we can't afford to do much of anything. It's a problem. I compensate by cleaning it relentlessly, every crevice. I don't know what else I can do

26. Has anyone done a "walk through" yet? If so, where do they
stop and look?

It may not matter at all -- it sounds like a GREAT place!

If you can figure out where their attention goes, the deal is to concentrate only on that place.

It could be the entrance. Or, the dining area. Or, a lovely window.

You sure don't have to worry about "doing" 7 bedrooms!

It's more like making a suggestion in just one place in the house to get people thinking about the whole house. :silly:

33. That is a question I'll have to ask our realtor.
Edited on Thu Jul-06-06 09:54 PM by kiraboo
We live in an area where the expectation is that the victorian house will have a victorian interior. Ours was updated in the 1930's... fireplaces were bricked over, moldings and windows updated, etc. The negative comment we consistently get is that the place lacks "authentic detail." We've been here for seven years and haven't touched anything fundamental, but have improved the kitchen dramatically, taken out the horrible institutional ceilings and replaced them with plain plaster, etc. But I will ask Venise about what looks good. We've been told it's priced right for the market, but locals can't afford it. It's timing and luck. Thank you though, for your thoughts. They are useful. -Lisa

Edited on Thu Jul-06-06 10:00 PM by sfexpat2000
about the lack of "authentic detail", the answer is, "Yes! there's sooooooooo much potential here!"

lol

37. Thank you very much.
As I was mentioning above, it's a victorian, but updated. We consistently get comments that it's too inauthentic (we've done nothing besides improve the hideous kitchen & bad ceilings). So there is little I can improve without going to great expense. Oh well. I hope the vibes work wonders! They often do.

34. Hey Boo, this one just slipped right past me...
Good luck, but where ya goin'?

I've heard that the smell of bread baking in the oven will sell a house better 'n anything.

Heard similar things about painting the house yellow. Egad, I can't imagine (not a big fan of the yellow, ya see).

I would stay here, because of my kids. The divorce is enough hardship. I won't pull them from their schools. The bread idea... not bad. If I can stagger out of bed early enough, it's a plan!

We hung out in the back yard and we had to pop Maalox like mints for the next two days.

Seriously. Go to a museum. Have lunch with a friend. Go to a movie. DON'T go somewhere and TALK about it, though.
