Re-watching Battlestar Galactica

Dunno why, but I'm loving it more and more.

I do hope they make a series out of it, keep the same look, feel, and format, and NOT lose focus like how the original 1978/9 series had.

3. Although I like Battlestar Galactica 2003, I don't like the new Apollo

and Starbuck. Maybe it was just the actors, but I didn't like them at all. Other than that, I thought it was a great movie. Cool special effects and cinematograhpy and I even liked the new cylons.

4. My only criticism of the new Galactica...

...other than not using the original music (well, they did briefly) is they have seemingly ignored the whole "ancient earth" Egyptian back story.

Maybe they'll revisit it in the series.

But the old music rules!

7. I liked the new Starbuck

it was funny but at or near the end there is a sequence when the girl Starbuck seemed to be channeling the original character. It really made me laugh out loud.

Olmos as Adama seemed much better to me than Lorne Greene's Moses imitation and Colonel Tigh as an aging drunk made the character seem worth having on the Bridge. THe original was just window dressing.

I also agree with the faction that thinks Baltar's egomaniacal horndog rang much more true than John Colico's version in the original. As someone mentioned elsewhere, what good is a Cylon's promise anyway. Baltar v.1 never made any sense at all.

The new sound track was awesome, in my opinion. The sparse drumbeats during the space fights was much more appropriate than the original orchestral theme, though I would have liked to hear more than a five second "homage" to the original during the fly-by.

The destruction of the abandoned refugee vessels by the Cylons was almost beautiful, even if milked for every possible ounce of emotion. The rockets spreading out like blossoming flowers was way cool.

This was worth seeing, but I'm fairly confident that any series they put together subsequently will suck beyond the minds of mortal men. Just going by past experience is all.
