Snow sucks
And don't you think TLC should do a makeover/dating/wedding/babystory all in one about the same couple?

I've feeling this winter is going to be a long one. I'm glad I've held up so well this far. ;-)

1. 13" in Saratoga, so far...
Plow's been here twice and they're predicting 18 to 24" by the time it's over...

Did I mention I hate the fucking snow? :grr:

17. Pardon my ignorance...
How far is Saratoga from Syracuse? I will be briing my daughter there on Jan 12th for her first semester at SU. She's lived in her entire life in Maine so is used to bad weather. Is it worse there?

18. Go Orangemen
I took some classes at SU and its a good school in a good city. I'm in Rochester which is like an hour away and we rarely get more than like a foot of snow.

19. I'm about 120 miles east of Syr...
Syracuse gets a bit more snow than we do. The lake effect snow from Lake Ontario dumps pretty heavily from Syracuse to Utica. Here in Saratoga, we get the same nor'easters you get down east, but we're too far east to get the lake effect stuff...

24. As someone who grew up in Saratoga and lived briefly in Syracuse
Syracuse is about the worst place for snow, cold and ice that I can imagine. We get hit hard here in Eastern New York, but the Western part of the state is just the worst. I remember that my then-boyfriend used to keep a blanket wrapped around his car's engine. It is bad here, just North of Saratoga, but worse to the West and South. As for distance, it is the completely other side of the state. I would estimate travel time to be at least three hours, on the Thruway, in good weather. Sorry...

23. More than that in Glens Falls
I've been out twice, so far, to shovel a space so I can take my dogs out. It's already over the little one's head. I grew up in Saratoga and was just there yesterday...:hi:

28. 'Tis "tall dog" weather out there...
Edited on Mon Dec-15-03 08:55 AM by alg0912
My friend who is taking care of my Airedale (also in Glen Falls) said the snow was up to his belly (and Chuckiemutt's a very tall dog). This is Chuckiemutt's favorite time of the year, though...

My friend's a teacher in GF - did they close the schools there today?

30. I don't think so. The big storm was on Sunday
We are expecting more of the same for Wednesday and I wouldn't be surprised if they closed the schools tomorrow. We can land a man on the moon, but we are still at the mercy of the weather. How much sense does that make?

I have two dogs. My little one's an eight-pound Brussels Griffon. He is surprisingly unfazed by the snow, but this weekend's was just too much for the little guy. I hate winter.:grr:

I'd love to see that. I'm supposedly a direct relative of Franz Anton Ketterer who invented the CooCoo Clock in the Black Forest Region of Germany which (sadly) is, as far as I know, my family's only claim to fame.

Nonetheless, I'd love to see Germany at Christmastime. I bt it's gorgeous!

25. Probably no white Chrismas this year
The forecast predicts warm weather for the Holidays :-( . The snowing has just stopped in Berlin, no snow remained on the ground.
I'd say Germany doesn't look much different than any other middle European country during Chrismas.

Sorry, I'm laughing because I remember that thread last year when you posted you were getting 6-8", forget eating out because it'll be a sloppy mess. When you came back there were 92 raunchy replies!

13. Hmmm. Very Profound
True, very true. We blow it here too come to think of it....whether by nature or "snowblower". But we also (attempt) to annihilate it by compression w/our plows.

Thanks. I needed something else to ponder.

10. Snow's not so bad. . .
at least, not here in South California. It's just something we go visit, much like the beach. When we tire of it, we go home.

12. You've gotta be shitting me!
Snow rocks! :yourock:

Well I'm a skier like Dean so I'm clearly biased. I love walking around outside when there's snow, even im i'm wading through it. IT's so nice and peaceful and beautiful. Ice on the other hand is ass. That's what kills people on the roads. Snow is soft and fluffy and feels good when you jump in it, ski on it, throw it, or just admire it.

If you're cold hon you can come visit me. I'll keep you nice and warm.

I couldn't imagine living in a place that's warm year round.

22. Have you ever skiied Sugarloaf Maine?
I know most people think there is nothing in the east but they are wrong. We've got great vertical drops and overall good mtns. In fact several olympic skiiers were educated at CVA (Carrabesset Academey) at the base of Sugarloaf which is the same mtn my daughter learned to ski.

The only reason I tell you this is that I hope you will check it out. I'll be honest, we need tourist dollars but you won't be dissppointed I garrantee. !!!!

Maybe we need to look into enclosing it. A nice sun-room, perhaps. Er, with blinds that close, of course. ;-)

27. Thats why
I left Cleveland a year ago, and moved to Florida. It seems we have just too much perfect weather here. The only negative is shoveling all of that sunshine out of my driveway.
