My computer randomly shut off four times!
It went off just like, poof, as if the power went out, but it didn’t. My lamp was still on.

At least one (maybe two) of those times, it happened while I was on DU.

I was able to push the button to start it back up right away, so I assume it was not a disconnected cord.

What gives?

1. Power Save?
By lamp, do you mean the light indicating power on your CPU?

5. Yeah, I have a lamp connected to the same surge protector
But it didn't go off.

I'm guessing it's not the surge protector.

3. Run a virus check on your machine...
There are a few computer viruses that do things like that...

6. No, there was no blue screen.
It just, poof, went off.

I use Windows 98. I guess I had better upgrade soon, since Microsoft won't be offering service on that anymore.
