I guess I'm going to a wedding tomorrow

For two people I don't know, whom I've only met once. But my SO worked with one of them, and the guy wants him to be there (I guess my SO did him some favors and they worked very well together), so I'm playing wifey and going with him.

Of course he didn't bother to ask if the wedding is going to be inside, or outside. (Or both.) If there was going to be food. What city it's in (we're getting picked up, so I guess my SO just left it at that.) If it's going to be a big wedding, or a small wedding. He didn't ask any questions, at all.

I didn't have anything to wear.... so I bought a dress. It's nice but not too nice, and I got it at a consignment shop so I don't need to feel guilty if I never wear it again. (Was 50% off, too!)

I hate being around people I don't know.... let alone *crowds* of people I don't know. :scared:

Wish me luck? I want this to go smoothly with as little attention on me as possible- at least it's the type of occasion where everyone's eyes will be on just a couple people, right?

9. I recently attended a wedding under similar circumstances.

I found that a "such a lovely couple" goes really far in starting little chit-chat sessions,especially with the elderly relatives of either side. Don't be afraid to introduce yourself. I actually had the grandmother of the groom thank me for doing so. Lots of strangers to her, but not many making the rounds and meeting people, I guess.

I also brought my digital camera and took some candid photos of the elderly relatives and youngins when I could. I was also able to get photos outside of the shenanigans that the official photographer didn't get. I'm putting them on a disk to give to the bride and groom.

One last thing...if you can, be very free with the compliments of the wedding and reception to both sets of parents. They really do appreciate the kindness.

We'll definitely have our camera, we carry that thing everywhere... and yes I will compliment the parents- I know how much it meant to my uncle when he helped plan my cousin's wedding. :hi:
