Here's what they write about Democratic Underground:

I'm surprised at the user friendly claim; I've only visited Free Republic briefly a few times, and I've never registered. But I didn't have the preception that it's more user friendly.

I'm not sure about the over-moderated charge. I've felt a little over-censored at times. On the other hand, I've seen a ton of frivolous and stupid posts that are tolerated. Overall, I think it's relatively fair.

I noticed FreeRepublicSucks does NOT include SmirkingChimp among its links. That website SUCKED so bad, I finally came to the conclusion that it was either a right-wing operative or one of Joe Lieberman's hobbies.

What really struck me was how much that FR thread reflects what is going on in GD these days. If you read the whole thread you will see striking similarities to many of the recent threads here on DU. The candidates and issues are polar opposite of ours, but the rhetoric and tone is almost exactly the same.

Four years ago the FReepers could not get united behind a candidate, expressed fear for the future of their party and their country, and engaged in endless, ruthless bashing of their own primary candidates.

I felt like I'd stepped into the twilight zone.
