My MySpace profile has been deleted - WTF????????!!!!!!!!!!!
I just logged in and I got this:

Invalid Friend ID.
This user has either cancelled their membership, or their account has been deleted.

WTF is this?

Has this happened to anyone else?

4. MySpace has sucked since its inception.
Why do we even bother with that piece of shit site?

7. it didn't used to suck
I mean it had less "stuff," but was maybe 3% as buggy as it is now. Now, after receiving $500M from Rupert Murdoch, it's CONSTANTLY screwing up.

14. I think I can't stand the OMG OMG cutesy/stupid culture of today's
Internets...or something like that, because I find MySpace grating as hell. I made a page last year at the urging of someone close to me and promptly lost any interest in maintaining it or answering any requests for being my 'friend,' etc. All those stupid invitations and stuff, too...bleh. And 20-year-old airheads (no, really, I'm talking verifiable airheads) sending me messages and stuff that I can't even read...or bogus 'models' and so on playing some kind of scam. It's a nightmare world, it is. OMG OMG.

But I just can't bring myself to delete my page, either. Maybe they just did it for me. LOL LOL OMG OMG.

The boyfriend wrote this for Tom:
*****
Dear Tom: We Want Answers
Body: ~~Spread the letter and maybe we'll get some actual answers~~

Tom:

Stop telling us to "be patient;" stop telling us lies about how the power in LA went out "last night;" stop expecting the people who use your site to put up with endless malfunctioning servers, bad coding, and now nearly totally unreliable service. This stuff has been going on for a lot longer than "last night," "last week," or even last month, and you know it. Plenty of companies are paying you handsomely to get their targeted advertising right in front of our faces--how do you think they'd feel about scads of MySpace users fleeing the ship that can't seem to stay afloat long enough anymore to even allow someone to comment on their friends' pages? "The World" can be a fickle audience, you know. I think a lot of us would even suggest we've been mighty patient with you. We're starting to really wonder what, exactly, you did with that 580-million dollars Rupert Murdoch paid you.

So here are a couple of good natured suggestions for you and your crew, because many of us, despite the increasing odds, would love to see MySpace survive in operational order:

1.) Have your customer service folks respond to notes and inquiries from concerned users. A lot of times they don't.

2.) Train your customer service folks to respond to notes and inquiries from concerned users politely and in a manner that implies someone on your end really did read the note or inquiry at hand. Doing so is just good business practice and reduces potential resentment on the part of your fickle user base. Note: a curt "We're working on it. Be patient" is actually rather impolite!

3.) Buy some extra servers. You can afford it.

4.) Hire some folks who understand coding and coding errors and repairs.

5.) Deny the NSA the ability to scan, mine, and record information from MySpace profiles and groups. If you have accepted money from the NSA, or any other government group, for the purposes of scanning, mining, and recording information from MySpace profiles and groups, admit it publicly.

6.) Be honest about the technical foibles and other problems MySpace is encountering. Pretending to be unaware of problems and glitches that have plagued MySpace for weeks and months or more by saying you're "aware there's been a problem for a day" or "since last night" just makes you look idiotic.

7.) "Business" does not have to equal "evil." Don't forget that!

Let us know how it turns out. We'll be around for a little bit longer. Last person, please turn the light out . . .

Kind regards,
Your user base

9. worst.sysadmins. EVER!
I got that message. my main profile content was COMPLETELY wiped out Monday during "Maintenance"
if it were a pay site Tom would be in a world of shit with how badly it's maintained.

The alternative is Friendster which is apparently running on a 14.4 modem server. :eyes:

12. I agree...
I've never seen a site have any problems as MySpace does. Granted, there are millions of people using it but man...it seems as if everyday there is some message on my page from Tom saying "We are aware of the problem with blah blah blah. We are working on it blah blah blah." Get it together folks!!

23. WTF is wrong with him?! You don't do maintenance in the middle of the day!
Here's a novel idea.... SCHEDULE maintenance. At like, 4 in the morning.
Don't move databases around without telling anyone in advance. But hey, it's free, and it's his site, he can be an ass if he wants.

This is why I didn't join MySpace forever. But unfortunately, it is like crack now. I *must* go back.

the whole site has been screwy for a while now and things are finally coming to a head. I've managed to get to my home page but I can't do anything from there.

27. I don't know what happened to MySpace...
ever since that power outage a few days ago the whole site is fucked up. Granted, they always had stupid little parts of the site down for a couple hours here and there before that, and I can kind of understand that seeing as how MySpace is now the most trafficked site on the internets, but in the past few days it's been just one huge glitch after another.
